My main complaint:

Stop making it so transports can just sail through blockades.

As italy, i had the united states invade vichy-owned morocco that was in the axis. I reacted by parking my main fleet- 4 CV IV's as well as numerous screen ships- at casablanca, the only port province they had, and rushed as many of my units there as possible to retake the land. I then watched helplessly as they would sail a lone transport into my fleet, who would get attacked and lose org then retreat to port at casablanca still unloading their units. This continued until they had 40+ armored and motorized in morocco. Without the industrial capacity to take that i had to give them the entirety of africa as the US would go on to land 200+ divisions. All because their transports could simply sail through my ships.

Similar things have happened in other games.... and i have done it to the AI. But i want the BS of transports simply walking through enemy fleets ended.

Aha - this is a good catch and arises as a result of a fix for another issue we put in. I'm raising it as an issue now, and I have an idea how it can be fixed...

Battle Scenarios

The devs should reproduce the battle scenarios. This would give them a window into tweaking the settings for the grand campaign. As is most of the battle scenarios are broken, even the ones bundled with AOD.

An expansion of an existing feature I'd love to see is a losses report after air-missions, meaning:

- A report of how many planes are shot down by AA after some form of province bombing
- A report of planes shot down / men killed after ground attack
- A report of planes lost on both sides after an airial dogfight

The first of those would be especially welcome as a means of obtaining information about the effectiveness of AA and Radar installations.

That's possible since the original HoI. The name won't be changed on the map, but in menues, pop ups etc.
The names are in world_names excel file I think.

I took the question to mean "is it possible to have provinces change name via event in a game?" so Poland switching to all of the German names or vice versa.

I would revert back to HOI's move/battle/move. Move half way into a province, attack provincial defenders, move the other half. Arrive. ???. Profit.

It just makes more sense, since this is not a hex grid that there would be movement prior to battle. The attacking formations would arrive meet the defenders at different times due to their inherent speed. I think HOI2 and AOD suffer from lack of Keeping It Simple Stupid. Also, assault gun brigades (germany had no brigades in WW2 btw..) should be able to be attached to infantry divisions. This would represent the infantry gun regiments.

I'm pretty sure this subject has been gone through and through many times, but generally speaking such combat model would fit more into pre-1900s than any 1900s war. Even when there are no major operation scale engagements going on once the war breaks out there will be some sort of low level contact going on 24h\7, which is partitially taken into account in AoD for having extra attrition modifier if unit is adjacent to enemy unit. Once the orders from HQ to lower level units will be passed down regarding some major operations, the first contact can be made within few minutes even when over ½ of the division just started to get moving, something which wasn't that common prior WW1. It wouldn't take longer than 20-30 minutes for some major sized formations to also start engaging after the initial contact.

You can attach Assault Gun brigades for infantry already. As for the "had no brigades", that's more abstraction for the game scale to call extra artillery, SPAA, SPArt and such as brigades. There's plenty of stuff to nitpick around (Blitzkrieg + almost every major land doctrine just to give an example) if you just keep digging - especially countries' own specifications and designations ;)

At this scale of the game there should be some peroid or time (days for light infantry) before attacking formations engage defenders. I agree that it is a stupid suggestion that would be retroactive and probably impossible with europa 2 engine. But naval flotillas with greater visibility and effective range of fire must still enter a sea zone (even if its a narrow strait) before combat ensues. Just an old irksome point.

I cannot attach Assault Gun brigades to infantry divisions (I suppose I'll reinstall).

Also, just the nitpick further most German Major general was of a higher ranking general officer then the Lieutenant general.

There ought to be a homogeneity penalty for land forces where one type of unit exceeds 50% of an attacking army of more than five units. This way all-panzer armies can't steamroll everything, and also simulates the need for combined arms. Infantry need fire support from tanks, and tanks are vulnerable to land mines.
