Open the unitnames.csv file and delete the lines that contains 'Esc F'

For germany the section that begins with:

GER;Esc F;Zerstörergeschwader 26 'Horst Wessel'
GER;Esc F;Zerstörergeschwader 52
GER;Esc F;Zerstörergeschwader 76
GER;Esc F;Zerstörergeschwader 1
""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""'
Does this work? If so, it could take a large investment in time... ( It tried only deleting a few, and all of a sudden my CVs, CA's, CL's didnt have any names, and my Tacs were being built with English names. Luckily I follow Modders rule #1 Backup...

So you should delete Esc F or Esc F; ?
or does it actually work if you add Esc F in front of the Tac names?

No, sorry, I meant that you should delete the whole line, not only the 'Esc F' part.

Also, why the sudden change in models? Is there going to be another model taking the place of the escorts? and why were they dropped in the 1st place, they made for pretty good long range fighter sweeps (as they were used sometimes), not to mention the later models could escort the STRs right in...
Was it that no one was using them? (if so what has changed now?) or was there some exploit to Esc I wasnt aware of?

They changed the escorts to brigades/attachments instead, I'm not really sure why...maybe something to do with the AI and it's inability to properly use them or something like that.

The release notes for 1.2 say "Fixed the 'US assassinates Admiral Yamamoto' event so it sleeps the correct tech team"

I do not have the public version installed. Is your comment still true in 1.2?

I have been reading this thread. Some bugs are known, some were unknown and unreported. FYI see my sig on how Paradox wants bugs reported.

Oh, then it is fixed. Must've just missed it

I thing I have noticed in my first 1.2 DD game (Germany GC 36) was that when Romania gave me lots of expeditionary units many became German units (I could disband them, give then German leaders, upgrade them, had German flags, and no return unit button at the bottom right). Some were in Romania and some may have been changed when Bulgaria took Constana per event and the units there were strat redeployed (to Berlin not Bucharest).

Its not new, in my 1.1 DD german game i get Scandinavian, Flandern and Nat. Spain exp. units, after bitter peace they belong to Germany. So its an old bug.

The unit coordinates (where the icons are shown) are incorrect for Peshawar and Lahore. The one in Peshawar are on the south border, and the One for Lahore isn't even inside the borders.

Just check the province IDs with the "showid" console-command, then readout your desired unit coordinates using the "showxy" console-command.
Then you can easily edit the values in the \db\province.csv. Problem solved... :)

I am playing Britain in the 1936 game. Britain is always short on cash so I typically trade oil or metal to Canada, Australia, and the USA for money. I have the auto production on and accept trades but not initiate trades. I get pop-ups when a trade is canceled. The money trades that I make often disappear without any pop-up. When I check the trade list, the money trades are gone. I have only seen this in DD 1.2. I never saw it in 1.1 or in HOI II in any version. The problem with this in that my production slider is now set to more money production at the cost of other things.

That happened to me in DD 1.1 playing as the US.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure how to reproduce it so I can report it :(

I made a suggestion to increase the money from ICs from .2 to .25. You might want to try that (the file is misc.txt; it will change your checksum) so all nations have more money for diplomacy and espionage.

I'm always amazed at the number of silly, easily correctable bugs that exist in HoI. My experience with bugs in HoI2 vanilla made me cautious about purchasing Doomsday, and now I know for sure that I will not buy DD unless improvement comes about.

It's always sad when you are forced to correct game breaking and/or bugs in general yourself even after multiple patches.

The thing that always irks me the most is that, like I said previously, these bugs are so easy to fix! Or they are obvious! Yet, Paradox misses them, or ignores them.

I am still waiting for Paradox to get their heads out of their ass and actually do some some serious work and put together a relatively bug free game. However, I have a feeling that just as I wait for a time when D-Day invasions actually occur on a consistent basis when they should (C'mon Lothos, we know you can do it... not), that I will not see a time where HoI2 is relatively bug free without community intervention.

I realize that this is a very scathing post, but after observing, lurking, posting in these forums and playing HoI2 for many hours these are the conclusions I have drawn.

And don't give me the whole "It's so complex" and "How can you plan for every occurrence" and "Lothos doesn't actually work for Paradox". The complexity issue and planning for strange occurrences is something the programmers should be good at. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that maybe, just maybe, a simple line of code should be added to an event just in case something weird happens. I don't know, maybe these Paradox guys are just extraordinarily unimaginative. As far as Lothos goes, the guy has been trying to improve the AI for HoI2 for months, and I will admit has succeeded to a certain extent, but the fact remains that in many instances the AI still fails miserably (such as D-Day).

I realize that patches (or enhancements) are free and Paradox does not need to provide them. However, I am not choosing to purchase DD because of the recurring trend of ridiculous bugs, and will also not recommend Paradox games to friends without a stern warning about buggy game play. This is my way of saying "You guys failed". If, in the future, Paradox rectifies the current bugs and new bugs are rarely introduced, then I will consider purchasing/recommending Paradox products again.

I also feel suprised by some weird bugs stil existing - like the one where the new borders of Europe are drawn (I played USSR) - Yugoslawia, Czechoslowakia, Austria, Albania and Greece where all Stalinist but didn't want to join the Comminterm. This meant the bulk of my army in Italy and France (Italy was still fighting the war and France was split between me and the USA) was without supplies - they were dying away and I had to cheat my way into an alliance cause they didn't want to join Comminterm?

I still have the feeling that the Comminterm is capped at the amount of alliance members - cause relations where good - my belligerence low and my patience gone.

Altough there is light in the end of the tunnel, my furious attack on Germany (in september 1943 I was in Paris) had provoked a US invasion of Western Europe and took half of France before I could intervene.

Well, I've not seen these mentioned, but:
1. Whenever I leave the game without quitting (alt+tab or alt+esc, or a different program pulls me out i.e. antivirus/firewall program send me an alert) and then return the production sliders no longer move in small .1 increments but instead move in some multiple, resulting in needless wasteage of IC. This is especially irksome for a minor nations player as those wasted IC can really be sizable in comparison to total production. This problem is solved by saving and exiting the game and then re-starting but then my next 'quirk' appears, all of the sliders are unlocked, and some items are mis-reported (like supply requirements).
2. The AI seems incapable of keeping units in supply properly if convoys are involved. Trying to support an AI country by say, sending an army to India from Australia does not result in a stronger defense for UK's India, but instead results in armys out of fuel/supply and a general deterioration resulting from said state. Seems to send enough for just a little bit of suply and then run out every day or so. This means I need to set up my own beachead and operate independantly, but then I find that my own convoy AI isn't up to the job and I need to then take control of all supply convoy creation/destruction and maint. (if I leave on maint, the convoys keep ending up with 0 and/or no escorts, if I leave on creat/destroy it often destroys the convoy I made).
3. When stealing blueprints you get 3 results:
A. Success, resulting in a blueprint that may or may not be of use (not so much a problem getting techs you can't use IMO).
B. Fail, resulting in a spy's death and a message saying that you have failed and that country's realationship has been harmed.
C. (the buggy one) you are told nothing, you get nothing and a spy is dead. Seems like a failure (of course) but maybe that wasn't noticed - but then why is the spy dead?

Most all of these glitches and bugs are so blatant and easy to see. The very first time you play DD 1.2 - in the first month of play... THE FIRST 40 SECONDS - You will see two bugs. And you see them every time you play... How did they miss them????

Johan... You have to get rid of the Bettas and just make small patches like you used to with EUII. Make small, quick fixes and let the community find the bugs for you. As it is now, we wait months and months for a patch and then in our first game we are dissapointed with ridiculous bugs almost immediatly.

Try hitting control and shift together. Alt tabbing or using control - escape to leave the game temporarily seems to lock the shift and control-shift unlocks it. As far as I know, this has happened for a good while.

Yeah, I get that a lot.

I just hit control again and it fixes it. A good way of checking it is trying to resize the map with the + and - keys. If the gamespeed is toggled rather, then hit the control key and it will reset to normal behaviour.

Loosing half MC without notice

When playing the usa I suddenly realized, that the British had taken away Military control of my Liberian puupet.

this is what happened

Played on N/N GC (DD 1.2 vanilla) as the USA, when the italians and the Vichy french in 1942 strike from the north towards the ivory coast. Vichy France is in the Axis. Since I was preparing operation torch, I thought about letting my liberian puppet stop the italiens until I could send some divisions south. Early in the game I gave them two destroyers and then forgot about them. The US player has MC over his puppet, thus I had MC at the beginning of the game and never returned it to the A.I..

Suddenly I realised this: The liberian divisions still had there original namens (Republican Guards), but where under British command. They did what I wanted them to do, stop the Axis’s advance.

In the diplomacy screens it still says that I have military control, and true, I still have military control over those two destroyers I gave them earlier in the game.

Bug or WAD. If so, certainly not a major bug, but I thought I could post it s well.

<snip>

Yeah, I had that happen in 1.1 It's not a MC problem, it's a Expeditionary force problem. Liberia was tracked to offer expeditionary forces, and England was the closest supply source. So England eventually stole the units.

Don't really mind myself - Liberia only has 2 ICs, letting the British supply and command their units is no worse that England gaining control of the Free French forces.

Which I really should report as bug... but to do that I'd have to play a game of 1.2 until 1941. If you have a save game and can point out how England stole the Liberian and Free French armies, you might want to zip up the savegame and submit it to hoi2bugs@paradoxplaza.com

It was impossible to supply my troops that were stil fighting the Italians ... pretty bad bug ... at least they should have a military access treaty ... and very weird it seems that comminterm is capped in numbers cause I had good relations and low belligerence ...
