Can anyone please clarify what the requirements are for the Lion of the North are as far as league leadership? It looks like a fun run, but I don't want to mess it up. Does Sweden actually have to be leader as of the current patch (1.23 for future googlers), or is it enough to simply be a protestant participant when the religious peace is enforced? Thanks!

I'm pretty sure the "Lead the Evangelical Union to victory" is misinterpreted as you have to be leader of the protestant league, but you have to start the war and win it, you don't have to be the leader of the actual union just the war leader.

I can't remember exactly how I got it but I have a feeling I didn't start the war but became war leader. I could be wrong though.

If the enemy league declares on you it will be fine, only think they will declare on leader though.

Also, it might be useful to note that you need to choose the religious demand, a simple Westphalian Peace is not enough.

Thanks guys! This makes the achievement much harder. I've actually never played out to the league wars before, does the leader get to call in normal allies even if they aren't part of the league yet? If I day1 DOW the emperor after the league forms, can I call my allies in if I saved my favors up?

There will be an Event that creates the two leagues in the HRE. Pause imidatly, join the Protestant Side, run the Game one day and hope you are Strong enough to be the Leader of the Protestant Side. Than you´ll get the League CB. Start the war right now. Because when you wait too long you´ll gone fight France and Ottos also.....

Yeah it still functions as a normal war so you should be able to call in allies as you would normally. Because it's likely that you won't be an elector as Sweden, it's very likely you won't be the league leader once the event fires. So you'll probably have to wait until the protestant league leader gets into another war, which temporarily disqualifies them for league leadership. The actual mechanics on what determines who the follow-up league leader is unclear (to me at least), but with luck it'll be you (rumour has it is weighted in favour of the player-controlled Sweden but idk), but it will only be you so long as the previous league leader is at war, so declare fast before it switches back again. So it's a very awkward time pressure and a pretty luck-dependent achievement imo.

Yes, the leader may call in their own allies, however you will likely find that anyone you are allied with is in the league with you already. The league dynamic exerts a massive influence in Europe and the Middle East. Ottos almost always side with the Protestants simply because of their dislike of the Emperor, although they generally cannot be the leader because they are Muslim. Russia also usually sides with whichever side they like the most/hate the least.
