Lion of the North impossible?

I don't understand how I can become league leader.

As a sidenote before I start: I have 'reset' the election by getting the current League Leader (Bohemia) in a war which made him ineligible.

Did it just to remove the possibility of the leader being 'locked' until a League war starts.
Bohemia immediately got re-elected afterwards.

Either way, here are the facts:

Bohemia is the leader
I blew up my standing forces to make sure that's not an issue
My FL is twice their FL anyways
They are not a GP. I have four times their development
My prestige is higher than theirs

Catholic League is a joke btw. War will start in a few months unless I drag Bohemia into another war.

What am I missing?

You can't have a peace deal with the catholic league leader.

The optimal way to do it is to join the league ASAP as its started and declare war directly when it form.

I don't have a peace deal with the catholic leader and did join it ASAP but the second nation joining (Bohemia) took the title away from me before I even got the cb.

I agree with Vetgirig. You can set your options so that the game pauses when a nation joins a League. Since the emperor will be the first to join, you can then be the first in the Protestant League and declare immediately. That's how I did it because I'm not sure how the League leader is actually chosen

Edit: have you tried restarting the game after joining? Should give you the CB without needing a monthly tick IIRC

If I'm not mistaken you don't need to be the actual leader just to win the war [unless it was changed/fixed].

You ARE mistaken, I'm afraid. I know because I too tried to get the achievement in this Denmark patch. Went protestant, won war, no achievement.

Major issue. Dunno How to become League leader in a clean way at all. Maybe some crazy thing as freeing Finland and try to become elector...

But dear god that system is stupid. I inherited Bohemia now and the OPM Trier became league leader. God knows why.

If only electors can become league leaders, this whole system is ridiculous, but I remember that not being true. I've been league leader as France before even though I got the title only while the true leader was at war. A Prussia consisting of 6 provinces.

It still doesn't make sense that nobody is able to say how it gets calculated.

We're not exactly talking about the crabby patty formular here. This should be published somewhere. As if someone gave you Mortal Combat but you only had a microphone at hand and had to figure out which voice commands activate which move while repeatedly getting smashed in the face.

Trier. An OPM. Not the only Protestant elector, but surely the smallest. Leader.

While writing the comment I jumped back into the game, DoWed their ally, vassalized them and am now finally League leader.

This is ridiculous.

Has the same issue, had 70% of the war participation too. So it wasn't even that. Really pissed me off since I was doing multiple achievements that run and I miss one.

My guess is that you can't be the leader of the protestant league when you're outside of the HRE if there's at least one protestant elector which is at peace. You also have to be protestant to be leader (seems quite obvious)

I got it with 2 Protestant Electors available, both of whom were at peace.

And I've gotten it before as France while only Prussia was at war, other electors were not.

This theory can't be correct either.

It's really a joke that this is a secret for no reason at all.

Protestant Electors will be more likely to have it, since they have added weight from being a Protestant Elector, you can become the League Leader from outside the HRE though.

and how can they lose it? It seems like retarded RNG to me, im pretty sure i was strongest protestant elector as brandenburg and bohemia with half of my army became protestant leader, maybe I was at war i cant remember, I never became leader, and bohemia ofc declared suicidal war

Guess that for now the only clean way to get the achievement is to vassalize protestant electors, PU them or waiting until all of them are at another war.

How am I supposed to know what is odd and what isn't if I don't even know which factors are contributing?

I'm not playing a full round focusing on nothing but FL just to send him a save and get "oh, FL doesn't matter, send me another save, this time make sure it's odd" in my face.

Is my Sweden example odd?
Is my France example odd?
What's "odd" in his book?

Well, whether an Elector getting leadership is odd or not is debatable. The problem is we don't know how it's calculated. He just wants a tooltip telling him what to do to get it, or that it's (by now) impossible for some reason.
Because they tied an achievement to it a lot of people run into this problem, which really could be fixed in a number of ways.

I got it as Desmond>England just last week, btw. First a small (very small, compared to me) Bohemia, who somehow lost it in a war (not against the emperor), then me.

I think the leader calc must look at either maximum units or manpower and multiply that by some factor for HRE membership and electorship. I guess that you have to be at least double (or triple) a HRE/elector to get the leadership. In my Lion of the North run, Bohemia kept becoming leader and I had to crush them 3 times and have them release provinces before I got the league leadership. It's a very opaque and annoying mechanism.
