I've just had to bin a disappointing run as Sweden. For some reason, I couldn't support a full force limit sized army.

I was hoping to get this achievement but Bohemia was Protestant so they became leader. I paused the game once the notification appeared but they'd instantly joined and there was nothing I could do. I deleted the run. It's a bit annoying having to do that because of RNG.

Anyone got this who could let me know how I could get it?

Ta.

I tried this a number of times before Lions of the North came out and always failed because I could never become leader of the league.

I got it a few weeks ago and it was due to a Sweden mission that forces the leagues to form and puts you as leader. I think it was the protestant sword.

Wait, what? I didn't even check the damn mission tree. Shame as the Denmark one is so good.
I dont think you need to be the leader despite the wording of the Achievement just win the war.
You do. I checked the Wiki.

The leader of the Protestant League is, as far as I know, based on military power. Per the wiki, it'd based on max manpower, force limit, and tactics. So, make sure you take Quantity, Offensive, spam manpower and FL buildings, and expand to make sure you can lead the League. Essentially, things you want to be doing anyways.

Wiki suggests it's military power only, do you have something to the contrary showing it's wrong? Not trying to be inquisitive, genuinely curious.

The wiki also says "being an elector boosts this score". It did a small test and the boost seems to be +100% and you need 50% more score than the current leader to become the new leader. So your score must be 3 times as big as the score which they would have if they would not be an elector and not the leader yet. I don't know how exactly the score is calculated, but in my test I was able to overtake the elector when I had 3 times as much manpower and 4 times as much force limit (and the same mil tech). This is something which you can achieve if you play a blooby campaign. If you anticipate this to be a problem, you can cut down the big protestant electors beforehand. Or maybe you can still do it immediately after the leagues have formed. While the country is at war, their score gets lowered by 80% which makes it likely that a smaller country becomes leader which you can overtake more easily when you end the war with the previous leader.

Tip for again: The next time you see the announcement of the leagues forming, don't dismiss it right away. Instead right click on it, and select "Pause on Pop-up". The game will then automatically pause when you get the notification, which should be before anyone else joins. As long as you have a free diplomat you should be able to join and declare immediately. Your game should remember this for all future campaigns.

Appreciate the tip but would I have to play a whole new run just to enable this setting?

Is this announcement not listed in the message settings list? Perhaps the "When another country joins a religious league" one?

You can edit the settings for which messages give popup or popup+pause in main menu (esc in game screen) and Message settings. If some existing message is missing from there, I think it should be reported as a bug.

Beeing at war reduces score in the league, there is always a chance that country will declare other war (or someone else declares on them) and leader will change. It happens quite often

What's your Sweden look like? No offense, but if Bohemia took leadership you didn't scale enough.
I had all of Scandinavia, including Denmark, much of Muscovy including Novgorod and Estonia. Bohemia had barely expanded. They'd taken Brandenburg's non-coastal provinces and annexed Silesia. Not much more than that.

The achievement difficulty is ranked medium. I'm surprised it's this hard. Being a Protestant elector at peace makes it all but impossible.
