Linux graphical problems with map

First, thanks to Paradox for supporting Linux gamers with all these ports to that magnificent OS!

I have a little problem with the map graphics: it is ok, but the resolution and the quality are very, very poor. It is ugly to see. I don't know what to do... I tried something found on the web, but nothing changed.

I am using Ubuntu on a laptop. I have Intel + Nvidia graphics card. I have tried also starting it with bumblebee or changing drivers on Nvidia graphic card.

Can you be more specific about what you see wrong in those screenshots?

Perhaps the screens are not so clear, cause the resolution is less than the original 1080p. All the menus are graphically ok, but map, 3D people on the map and also the shields on it are quite pixelated and low graphics. It's like a 800x600 resolution map stretched to 1080p... And that is particularly clear when zooming. Also the map in the start menu is a lot low graphic and there are pixels of a strange green, like a phosphorescent one.
I wanted to deactivate something in the graphic options, but I saw that it is not like EUIV: you can only change resolution, Htz and Gamma...
I post here the informations you asked for. Perhaps it was better if posted on pastebin?

I still don't see the problem in those screenshots, sorry. Where are those stray pixels you mention?

The current driver is 10.6.4 - any reason why you are not using that?

You mention having an nVidia card too, but I don't see it in there. Are you sure the game is running on the nVidia?

Please attach your Documents/Paradox/CK2/settings.txt. From your Documents/Paradox/CK2/logs/ directory, post system.log (rename to system.txt to attach).

I solved, thanks to that topic (I'm sorry it's in Italian).
I think it was a problem with Nvidia drivers: I tried to change from the open source ones to the Nvidia binaries, but all I've got it's a black screen on start of pc. So CTRL+ALT+F2, login and

sudo apt-get install nvidia-current-updates

That returned me to the open source one, but after a

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get upgrade

I found new binaries for Nvidia GeForce GT 740M (my graphic card), so

sudo apt-get install nvidia-prime
sudo apt-get install nvidia-355
sudo apt-get install mesa utils

Reboot and now some errors but no black screen.
Then I opened Steam and it said the correct graphic card on the info (the ones posted before). I tried opening CK2 but it crashes in the same moment of opening the window. So I put in the launch options

optirun %command%

and of course

-skiplauncher

Now it works properly, with correct graphics...

I posted all that in case of someone having similar problems.

I have got another question: why without "optirun %command%" it crashes? Is it normal?

I tried searching in the packages the updated drivers for mesa, they are there, but trying to update them gives me tons of errors and the system cannot update them...

I'm sorry, but I can't help you with that. Hopefully the nVidia Ubuntu community can!

Is it really necessary to update that drivers for mesa if I have solved with nVidia?
I don't know why it crashes without optirun, but I'm really happy to play that faboulous game on my Ubuntu partition =) Thanks Paradox
