Linking W2W to Map Type and not as a Policy Option - WHY?

I don't know the coding restrictions you have in the background, so this is my own opinion.

That is possibly the worst decision you have made in what is a brilliant game.

I need to be able to say my downtown has W2W my suburbs don't.

As far as I can see linking to map type prevents this.

Can we have an explanation as to the choice you made.

At least now the feature exist, it can be converted to policy option in subsequent release?

Global policy could be set by default on eruo biome for backwards compatibility.

Yeah I'm not complaining, I love the game. I just think the choice is really strange as a policy option leads to greater variety in the future, it just seems more obvious. I'd love to know why they didn't go that root

I hope we don't get the usual reply "working as intended, a modder can fix this". It's nice that we finally got w2w... just... it's a strange way to implement it.

it really is a very poor design. Honestly, if it was a seperate map only, they probably shouldn't have devoted the time to it unfortunately. Should have worked out a way to allow players to set more restrictions on what can grow in their districts and implemented a time-progression system like SC4 where I can start with old buildings and small streets etc... If I want a historical district full of old architecture and small streets I cannot do it unfortunately =(

The AMA was interesting. Quite specifically, they went the option they did because it did not change the technical requirements of the game. If you had all the new assets as well as the original assets, the texture memory would increase significantly. You might not like this decision, but there is a reason for it. Far more interesting, be enthused that they also spoke about want to do more with districts. I'd like, when the average machine has caught up, to be able to select the style on a district by district basis. And to be able to specify a bunch of Steam Workshop assets as being relevant. Then we can have some awesome focus within bits of our cities. But it will cost RAM and CPU and GPU...
