Linking Steam and Paradox Accounts

I followed the steps from this forum, input my steam id and password and then hit the link but get an error message. Could not link to Steam. User: etc(not sure if I should leave the numbers up on a public post) in universe steam already has a connection. Yet on my paradox account it doesn't show anything owned from Steam. What am I doing wrong?
