Linking your account does not provide Steam nor us any information about you as a user. All the link does is check what Paradox games you own and grants you the access associated with that game. In a nutshell:
- You own game A B and C on Steam
- You link your Steam account to your Paradox account and hit the Sync Item button
- A script is run to check if game A B or C are Paradox games
- That's it
The script doesn't grant Steam any access to your Paradox account nor do we get any information about your Steam account except what Paradox games you own. We can, actually, not see anything but Paradox SKUs associated with the linked Steam account in our backend.
As for if there is another way to do this the answer is no. We used to issue keys that could be used to register games but we've phased that out as it was a very impractical and time consuming operation to maintain.
I hope this clears things up
