Part 20
Giovvani Brignoli awoke and looked up. “Where am I” he said.
“My doge, you have been knocked out and asleep for a long, long time, but your back up and running!”
“Oh good, where were we.”
“We were just in a war with Spain, and many of their colonies are occupied.”
“OK good.”
10,000 troops were moved to Cartegna to besiege and take some of the last of the South American Mainland colonies of Spain, while the Genoese fleet battled through multiple Portuguese ships to reach Andalusia to transport a large army to begin to attack the heavily fortified islands.
An army was moved to Algarve, while Estramadura which had been plagued by Spaniards for a long time was finally liberated and the Spanish chased out. However, the Knights began to become a major annoyance as Messina was almost lost to them and 14000 Genoese men lost a battle against their 8000.
The initial invasion of cuba began with a successful landing in Guantanomo,
However, the invasion of Moron was a failure, at first at least. The Knights now occupy Messina and we are currently besieging it to take it back, and plans for a major invasion of Rhodes is under way.
18,000 reinforcements were shipped from Andalusia to the Caribbean, as the army there was in constant retreat and needed help. A successful assault of Cartegna meant that the only South American colonies left were very far south and estimated to be relatively undefended.
Finally, the Spanish in Cuba were defeated, and that island was now ours.
The last major area of Spanish resistance, Guadeloupe, was holding up well, and two failed Amphibious attacks were not at all helping the Genoese. We have the war won, the only question is whether we will be able to pursue it to the end or not.
