I want to play a game as Britain with a strategy I call 'having a light touch'. This means not getting involved in major wars and using vassals in place of blobbing.

The only exception will be colonization of the Americas and South Africa. I wil only take lands that are important trade provinces.

The only wars I'll conduct with European powers are colonial wars where I hope my superior navy will be able to keep their troops from reinforce their colonies or invading the isles while my colonies swarm them. i'm not sure how good the AI is at catching transports tho...

The goal is to create a 'trade ring' which circles the globe without having to blob. I imagine this empire will be enforced by building forts on these trade enclaves I conquer and having a rapid response force of marines ready to deal with rebels and invasions. Should be interesting!

What do you think?

Done it, it gets pretty boring when you're untouchable with the navy.

What you going to spend all those ducats on?
I want to play this while HIP and MaT get updates so I can play a two-part game as the Byzantines first regaining their Justinian boarders and then trying to survive in a world of national revolutions.

And how well does the navy function under AI directions? I hate how it splits up your fleet to blockade ports.

Britain is actually shockingly boring in the two ways people play it, if you pu france early and dominate the west it's boring, if you abandon the continent you're virtually untouchable from anyone so that's also very boring

I'm wondering whether it would be wise to make my initial European holdings into vassal marches. I've done this in my dryrun game but all it did was be a speedbump for the likes of France and Spain that nets them more warscore. I'd like to divest from the mainland entirely but that would strengthen France too much...
