I haven't played a GC in ages. Most of my games start with Peter's 1520 modded with Daywalker's ai package. Makes for a much miore challenging game. Katsyev also has some good ideas. I just started a 1617 game with the ai package and its a lot of fun to see NA not completely colonized by 1570. Plus, the Dutch are in their heydey. A fun scenario to be sure.

Yep, my current game is 1617. The major powers are all far more developed to give you a more historical feel, 1700 is even better in this regard but then you only have ~ 120 years of play. Either way. :) I've never been much for the Age of Revolutions or Napoleon scenarios, though I figure i'll try 'em more sometime.

I always play AoE (1492) because European countries are already formed. In 1419 you never know who shall win a HYW, whether Burgundy will grow strong, whether Sweden will win with Denmark, etc. I sometimes try Bocaj's 1453 and Hive's 1569 (when I want the Netherlands, for example).

I usually play the GC or the AoE. However, if you're looking for a short game with plenty of fighting, play Napoleon's Ambition. That's probably my second favorite scenario to play because its non-stop fighting.

Cheers for the info mate!

I got the normal EGUFSM and it looks bloody fantastic. Great stuff, thanks :)

I got the softer colourscales a few weeks ago, and much prefer them, But, what are these army/navy GFX mods? Can you link me to the best ones? I assume they make the ships/solder counters look better?

Many thanks,
Jim.

Always happy to spread the word :) ...BTW, AGCEEP 1.37 just came out, hooray!

Here are links which I should have included in my original post :eek:o

EGUSFM 1.0 - a massive flag and shield mod for EU2, soon to have a new version out. AGCEEP is made to be compatible with EGUFSM.

Softer colorscales - a nice change to the usual map colors when accessing the diplomatic map mode.

EU2 Goldscale - a precursor to a larger map mod currently under construction, this provides new terrain colors for the normal map mode. It also comes with modified diplo map colors, so you can choose between whether you like these or the softer colorscale ones better, I suppose.

Army/Navy reconstitution and construction graphics - Nice new graphics to ooh and ahh over when you are building or changing the composition of your armies and navies.
