Two games now Ive had my Liege become papal controller and be excommunicated. Should this happen in the first place - except for events I cant see how? And shouldnt a papal controller then be able to cancel that effect?
Does this include his vassels?

It shouldn't be possible in the first place

The AI never revokes an excommunication not even when it concerns himself

What do you mean 'include his vassals' ? His vassals aren't excommunicated just because he as the liege is. Excommunication is a personal trait, not tied to a country in the game.

I think he might mean the provinces in his liege's demense when he says vassals. Those definitely fall under the excommuncation rule for being able to grab those titles for practically nothing.

That needs to be fixed, why doesn't the AI ultilize the revoke excommunication rule oh itself??

Thx, I did mean us vassals. Maybe I was wrong or maybe I inadvertantly click a response to some event that gave it to me - unlikely though! However, Ill keep my eyes open to see if that happens again.

As for the point of AI never revoking.... if its the PC then why shouldnt it take advantage?! Agree with ravinhood - Seems like a break in logic to me!

I never said that it was logic, just said that the AI never does it :) The AI just isn't good enough

But the AI makes very bad use of its powers as PC, it excommunicates as much rulers as it can, but they are either his direct neighbours or closely placed to him. Then the AI grabs a claim and then it most of the time does nothing with it, it doesn't go after that claim.

This statement gave me the impression you meant it wasnt coded for, rather than it is coded for but not configured for... if you get my drift!

No, I meant that some-one who is excommunicated shouldn't be able to become Papal Controller :)

Gawd that makes the AI sound horribly bleak and weak. Why doesn't Johan fix this issue? Why would they leave it that way in the first place? Cmon we have an expansion here so why didn't they expand the intelligence of the AI?
