It's weird because I've saved and released Poland and had it go both ways. Take my cores or another only take it's pre-war cores that weren't mine. Not sure if I was playing a mod or not.

I think the fundamental problem isn't in releasing puppets. That's an obvious and easy fix with you just selecting what provinces you won't give. The main problem is how occupation is handled in general. Really need something in between occupied territory and puppet. Maybe like military governments in occupied zones that suppress partisans and increase resource extraction.

Yeah, they don't get them. I released Poland many times and I always got to keet my core provinces.

I never knew that. Only reason I never released them was because I never wanted to lose my cores. I had no idea they didn't actually get them.

But one of the problems is that Danzig isn't always considered your core province. I think this varies from patch to patch because I think right now I have Armageddon 1.2 and Danzig isn't considered a core province of Germany. So when I release Poland, they get Danzig but not any other of my core provinces.

Yes that could have been it. Last time I liberated Poland the Danzig event never happened because the Czechs refused annexation so I had to go to war with them. I think that is what messed up the Danzig event.
