So, I searched for this but didn't find a thread on this but I guess others have already seen this.

I liberated a few planets from a larger AI empire with the aim to vassalize them later on. Standard stuff. However, I noticed they had less planets than intended, so when I checked I found these ex-colonies totally empty. Looked over my peace deal to make sure I didn't accidentally cleanse the planet instead of liberating it so that was fine. I shrugged and carried on but in a later round against them the same thing happened. Then it clicked, the still sizeable AI empire must have demanded my newly liberated friends to pack up and stop encroaching them!

As you can see the Yalon League of States is pretty large just now so I can understand why the newly independent Yalon Sovereignity gave up two of their planets just before I vassalized them (had to wait the usual month with the act because of the distance modifier). Now mechanic wise this is almost logical, weak empires giving in to a comparatively enormous one. However, for this very reason they start with a truce with their former empire and a guarantee by the liberator. Perhaps the truce should block the encroachment diplomatic action from happening?

yup this has annoyed me in the past as well. What i do is instead of liberating the target worlds i use the war goals to cede the planets to my vassels. that way you still have them in your area of influence (also if the vassel you gifted them to has been a vassel for 10 years you can integrate immediately if that is your wish)
