I find that being unable to cross Christian lands really disadvantages Muslims and Pagans in DV. Is there any way to change this, or is it hardcoded?

I would assume this sort of thing is hardcoded.
True, it disadvantages them, but i'd call it realistic anyway. And the opposite applies to christians too, doesn't it, so how is this unfair?
It is hardcoded
I'm sorry to hear that. The "Sheikdom of Praha" phenomenon never bothered me that much. True, it's unhistorical, but the way the Christians take down most of the Muslim and Pagan world in most of my games is completely unhistorical.
It is such a shame to see Christians to travel without hindrance from Northern France to Baghdad. The Seljuk armies, on the other hand, are limited to coastal invasions only. It seems the Muslims have no chance to reach a non-coastal province while the Bohemians happily loot and siege in the middle of Persia.
Though I rarely see the AI do such things.
In my games I also don't see the Muslims lands being overrun by Christians att all.
