This is my first EU2 AAR, which also happens to be a scenario beta-test.

Letters from the Union: 1861.

Beta for a custom scenario: The Civil War, 1.0

Fortunately, I am not hampered by an NDA :D .

Before I begin, special thanks to:

Paradox, for making EU2,
Ariel, for writing the first AAR I ever read,
and Yoghurt, for encouraging me to write my first EU1 AAR, and being a great help in pointing
out my writing defects.

And now, to begin.....

Jan. 1, 1861

President Lincoln,

I am writing to inform you I will attack the inferior
Confederate Force in Tennessee. I plan to march to the sea,
and will wreck the heart of the Confederacy.

Sincerely,
Commander of the West Union Armies

May 16, 1861

General,

You have been waiting for four and a half months,
why do you not attack? You will attack, or I
will have you removed from command.

Awaiting your reply,
The President

June 15, 1861

Mr. President,

We appear to be smashing the Rebs at Bull Run. Their
Lower technology is seriously hampering them. I
expect to be in Richmond next month.

General McDowell

President,

The Rebs keep attacking, but we got ‘em.
You’ll have it for a thanksgiving President.

General McDowell on this August day

General,

Congress has forsaken us. They are forcing us to
take only Kentucky. You are to withdraw. I am
giving this to the commander in the west as well.
Mind you, this is not my order but Congress’.

Regretfully,
The President.

February 1, 1862

Mr. President,

It seems we have our answer. The Rebs are attacking
Mexico. They should be weakened. Now that we have our
alliance with Canada, maybe we should extend it to Mexico.

Your most Obedient Servant,
Army Chief of Staff

Note: if you want to help shap this scenario, I will be posting in the Scenario Forum as well.

And now, the Second Civil War:

October 1,1863

Secretary of State,

I am writing to inform you of the smashing success of the Confederacy in Mexico. The rebs have
taken Chihuahua and the Rio Grande Valley, and are advancing on the Grand Canyon. If they
capture it, they could make peace demanding Provinces from sea to shining sea. I hardly need
remind you what the consequences would be.

Anonymous observer in Mexico.

January 1, 1866

Mr. President,

The two year war between the Confederacy and Mexico has ended. The Mexicans recovered in
the second half of the war, building an army out of nothing, but were still forced to pay $400,000.

American Embassy in Richmond.

January 10, 1866

Abraham Lincoln’s address to Congress:

Gentlemen gathered here today. It has been a dream of mine to restore the Union to it’s original
size ever since that day when we made peace for merely Kentucky. I now ask you to declare a
state of war against the confederacy to restore the Union. May next year see this nation stretch to
the gulf of Mexico as well as from sea to shining sea.

January 1, 1867

Report of the state of the war:

We have cut off Richmond from the rest of the Confederacy, as well as destroyed the Mississippi
Valley, and shall soon have Richmond. In our opinion, it should be over by next year.

Sincerely, Gen. Grant

Abraham Lincoln closed the book and sighed. The war had been long and hard, and his flipping
through the book reminded him of the Wars. Rocking in his chair by the fire in his home in
Springfield, he glanced up at the map showing his life’s work, a united Union. He thought of his
career, as a state representative, as a U.S. Representative, and of course his job as the President.
He gave another sigh. Someone else would have to compose other memoirs of the rest of this
time to 1876. He settled down once again, and glanced at the map again.

Edit: Sorry to dissapoint you, this is only a short AAR, to get me back into writing, it won't be much longer.

GO REBS!!!!!!!

Any thoughts on making Kentucky a neutral country at the start of the scenario? Perhaps a Union vassal?

Some other ideas-
Union should have fairly big navy, Rebs little
Rebs should have better historical leaders
Some of the Northeastern provinces should start with manufactories
Union should definitely have higher manpower
Union should have poor relations with England and France

Just looked again- not sure you're one of the designers. Oh well.

Eddie Teach: Yes, I am one of the designers, heck, I AM the designer. If you'd like to help you can post in the fairly dormant Scenario forum where there is a thread on it to which no one replied.
