So I am a casual gamer but really like building cities that don't work. So I decided to try something new. I am going to create a city with your help. The game will be played for a couple hours each workday (M-F) before I go to the gym. Once a milestone is reached, there will be a period of beautification. I will be using unlimited cash, a mod that allows for 25 areas, unlimited soil and that is it. Plus assets.

The purpose is to learn what I am doing wrong or best practices for what I am doing. I will progress the city and post screen shots. Each week I will look at any suggestions of what I may be doing wrong or better ways to accomplish the same thing. If you have advice or suggestions for the city's growth or beautification as well as assets you think should be added. just comment. This thread may very well act as a way for new players to get a feel for how to build those wondrous cities you all are building.

so step one is choosing the right map.

any suggestions (please like which ever map you agree with rather than x5 posts about the same map). If no suggestions I will choose one myself.

I’d suggest that the last thing you want to do is to start out with unlimited funds: you don’t learn how to grow at a controlled pace that’s sustainable for a budget, and you’re likely to continue failing.

What’s true in life is true in this as well: if you tey to move too fast, things get broken along the way, and are often far harder to fix later
