"An allied victory means the Allies force Germany to become the BRD. A Soviet victory forces GER to become the DDR" True.

But for the sake of game variation, if the Germans were still holding the line successfully against one side or the other, you could perhaps envision something a bit different (it almost certainly wouldn't have happened in RL even then).

Since the Nazi flag isn't in the game to begin with...

Maybe just use "GER" for Donitz's Germany and then change it depending on victory.

An allied victory means the Allies force Germany to become the BRD. A Soviet victory forces GER to become the DDR.

I use the Nazi flag, because I like realism.

Donitz was made President of the Reich upon Hitler's death (it was in his will), and personally I see no reason why the Allies would have removed him from power during a hypothetical WW3 scenario - Donitz was a respected figure, and never joined the Nazi Party anyway.

I believe had an Operation Unthinkable-style plan been attempted prior to Germany's capitulation, the Allies would simply have allowed Donitz's more "liberal" government to remain in power and simply add them to the anti-Soviet coaliton.

What about really mixing it up and allowing it to go the other way too?

ie Western Allies over run Berlin, intent on complete and total destruction of the 3rd Reich (as they were), believing they would be friends with the Ruskies (as they mostly did), with Eastern Front still in Poland. Soviets misunderstanding Western Allies intentions and thinking ahead make a more liberal peace with Doneitz and what's left of the 3rd Reich. After all, countries like Czechoslovakia didn't become fully communist untill '48, the Soviets were at first less hostile to Donitz than the British and Americans were, and the 'unthinkable' had already happened once before.

I am in no way suggesting that this would have happened, just that it would give more variation to the game if it had a small chance of happening in the game.

Either way it would work, I was merely going on the more historical of the two paths :)

Either way, the absolute key is speed.

The date for Unthinkable was July 1st, 1945. British Intelligence basically wanted a brief rest for the Allied troops (for morale and health reasons, obviously), and then to push the Russians out of Berlin, and eventually the rest of Germany.

Such a plan would probably have been doomed to failrue anyway, seeing as at this point the Russians were more or less fully mobilized, and were well and truly in 'Total War' mode by the time they'd won the race to the capital.

But whatever the outcome, the use of what was left of the German war machine (and more specifically, their advanced tank & aircraft designs, as well as whatever nuclear research they had gathered during the war) would have been immensely advantageous to whichever side got to it first.

How about a circa 1948 Israeli Revolt to form a State - in the case of occupation by Russia or someone other than the allies? Or how about, if there is already an even to trigger the israeli state, how about a followup if "no" is chosen, to have a war for israeli independance?

How about some hypothetical elections? Communist/Left vs Republican/Right in nations like Italy, France, Greece etc.

How about if Russia ends up in control of most of europe, an event that changes the medeteranian to their sphere of influence?

Hypothetical border wars between india and china

Communists vs. French in Vietnam (or communists vs. whoever is in control of vietnam)

Okay, let's assume that the Allies invaded Russia circa '45, during which they reunified Germany with a provisional nationalist government led by Donitz.

Any ideas for what flag Germany would adopt?

Clearly, it wouldn't be the Swastika - Donitz wasn't a Nazi, and the Allies certainly wouldn't let (m)any of them in the hierarchy for fear of a repeat of 1939 once the Russians had been dealt with.

The Imperial Flag (red/white/black) had been outlawed in 1935 - would it have been reinstated?

Throw some ideas at me, it's just I'm trying to make "Wehrmacht Germany" a revolter, and I need ideas in terms of ministers, and of course a flag.

Thanks :)

EDIT: Can someone make me two sets of leaders & ministers, please?

They're for Wehrmacht Germany & Weimar Germany.

:)

Karl Donitz will be the head of Wehrmacht Germany, with some nationalist leaders in his cabinet. There can be one or two former Nazis, but no more, as the allies would simply not have allowed it. Also, if Nazis are in, they can't be 'controversial' ones, or indeed, anyone involved in war crimes, genocide, etc.

As for Weimar Germany - I'll leave that to you, as I know very little about it. Basically, left-wing Liberal government - no one connected with the Nazi party whatsoever - they're for entirely different outcomes you see :)

Thank you!
