We have no enemies, other than those that would seek to further rape and enslave Italy...
In all seriousness, though.
Italy can be a bulwark of Catholicism and free trade, if left to the Italians...friends of Venice and Genoa will be rewarded with access to our COTs, our enemies will be shut out. The combined strength of our navies and the skill of our admirals will make the mediterranean a rather harrowing place for our enemies, and a safe haven for our friends.
We have no designs on dominating the continent...that is left for the dominions that span the vast European plain. We only want what it ours, and we will pursue that which is ours by any means necessary, though we prefer peace.
An Italy under republican rule, brisk and free European trade, and the preservation and advancement of the One True Faith are our goals. Whoever wishes to help us is our friend.
-Excellent Lord, by the Grace of God, Doge of Venice, Duke of Dalmatia and Croatia, the Most Serene Prince Giuseppe Mariani, anno 1492.
(oh what fun we're gonna have if we pull this multi-player thing off, eh, guys?)
Great fun indeed, but we are already playing but it's only virtual.
Most Serene Prince Giuseppe Mariani, Great admiral Doria,
I firmly support your bid for Italy and assure you that i have no claim as for now in the Peninsula. And when i mean support, it include also military matters, excluding however, for now, any 'direct' conflict with my French and Austrian friends. I wish great prosperity to your association and look forward to open trade lines between us.
On the other hand, dear Doge Mariani, as you have no claim outside Italy, i think we will be able to address the problem of your possessions in the Balkans and Eastern Mediterranean Sea, which i regard as to close to my domain to be secure for me.
I hope we will be able to settle this without any unnecessary bloodsheds.
Kind regards, The Mighty Sultan
