I just thougth a bit about how to make hiveminds even more distinct from normal empires and thought the civics are just the right spot where this differences can be made!
So I thought about some cool civics that hiveminds could have and wanted to share them with you aswell as wanting to hear what cool ideas you can come up with.
Maybe this thread can be used as inspiration for modders and even devs but it's mostly for fun so you can go crazy with your ideas and don't need to keep something like development time in mind!
So here are my Ideas:
Reproduction caste: Instead of reproducing normally this species has specialised entities that reproduce.
- Unlocks building/pop which is nessesary for population growth on a planet
- growth rate is reduced by a large amount (~45%)
Combined production: The drones of this species work in large production networks with exreme efficiency.
- mines, farms and/or power plants have an adjecency bonus towards their own production
Warrior caste: There is a distinct cast for combat in this species that is highly specialised and this very effective exspecially since armies of them work like a single entity.
- army bonus (~15%)
- army bonus per army on the planet (~1%)
Brain caste: These entities are for the hivemind like a brain is for a normal person. The only exception is that the hivemind can have many of them!
- special pop: science bonusses (~15%)
Ship caste: Ships of this hivemind are a not build but just born as just another drone.
- biological ships
- food instead of minerals?
- different technologies
I know these civics seem to be very strong but I feel like hiveminds need to have stronger civics to be compatible. (Why that is is discussed in an other thread and doesn't need to be discussed here aswell so if you want to add something to that here you go: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/index.php?threads/how-good-are-hiveminds.1008568/) I am happy to see both civics that are about as strong as the normal civics and those that are stronger so don't worry about that. They don't even need to be balanced at all!
