I only just discovered how great the feature "Turn your Heir into a General" is in order to prevent bad rulers!

Maybe I am slow on this one, but I frequently keep seeing posts complaining about their bad rulers while this is pretty avoidable. Once that idiot-heir pops up, send him to lead your armies. From my observation, he'll have a pretty decent chance of death just by leading the troops, no battle required. I once tried killing him on purpose by sending him with 1k men to attack a vastly superior stack. Didn't seem to do any good, so my guess is being general gives them a fixed chance to croak.

But in any case it is a nice way to get rid of those 0/2/0 heirs that like to pop up. Oddly enough they usually make at least decent (free) generals.

So go forth and kill your Heirs! Do you have any other tips to prevent moronic rulers? (Aside from playing as a republic?)

In pretty much every game of mine generals seem to last about 5-6 years tops, so that may actually work.
Of course the game will probably just troll you and not give you another heir, lol.

Ha, yeah I've noted the same thing.
I also noticed that my weak heirs/rulers (0-1-1 or something) tend to indeed make good generals for me, almost regretting that they die then ^^

That's always frustrating. A 5/5/1/1 general is pretty amazing, and you don't want him to die. But a 0/0/0 ruler is crap, so you do want him to die.

As to the topic, sometimes it works and they die quickly. Other times they just. won't. die.

Normally for me Mehmet with his 5_5_6 ends being worth general than his braindead child. Dunno what affects the pips your ruler gets.

I believe it's simply the same as rolling a normal general at that time. I.e. randomised within a range defined by your Army Tradition.

It seems - at least I've been told this, and it also matches my experience thus far - that the monarch's stats don't influence it. I've certainly had a 0/0/0 monarch who gave me a decent general.
