Hello peopel, i have came up with a idea that will probably work on CK2.
but its a somewhat complex Idea and requires many fields of modding, from scripting ,to historical research (i dont need it 100% Accurate) to graphics, and ideas. etc

the idea is this:

The Revelation of Rome

short description:
We are playing during the fall of roman empire and the rise of christianity and when Rome turns christian or the empire splits, the papacy will more there.


We start on the year 100AD, with the roman empire being bombarded by barbarians everywhere, and the province of Judea with christianity. And we make some modifiers and stuff like that that will make Christianity spread like fire like it did in the real world.
The Papacy will be located in Judea first, because it was where it all started, and in the translation files it will not be called Papacy but the Witnesses, and the Pope (which would be Paul i suppose , no? ) will not be called pope, but apostle.

We can play as many historically accurate or at least plausible characters from many factions of that time, and the main religions will be: Judaism, Christianity, Roman Pantheon , Germanic , Celtic and Norse and maybe we can add Islam by events.

Then basically we add some era-based events, and modify some strings and voilá! The hardest part in my opinion will be the Research and the Mess of adding all new nations and titles and characters.

If i conquered your interest on this idea, i would love form a Team with you.

I will do a little bit of everything: events, flags, scripts, characters, research, localization (But my english is not perfect, im Portuguese) etc.


Map: The Map will be the same, and the provinces can easly be the same as well.

Target time frame: 100-600 AD { including events to divide the empire, and to make the goths, visigoths, etc..}

Extra: It is possible to play as rome and try to survive.

Some String Changes: some barbarians are still considered tribes, but since this game is based on the concept of kingdoms we can just add a country flag and change the Localization for the title from Kingdom of <something> to Tribe of <something>
and the same for Romans.. Imperator instead of King =)

updated: Time line will change only from 100 to 600'ish

I know how to do a few bits and bobs around CK2, and I have quite some experience with EU3. I should be able to be of some help.

Now, first off... I highly recommend NOT using the vanilla map. It is hardly accurate for the main game's timeframe, and absolutely horrible for your proposed timeframe. If it turns out that making a whole new map ourselves is not a possibility, we ought to at least to integrate one of the map mods. On that subject, we should be going around and getting permissions for some of the other mods anyway. This would save us a bit of work, and many of them are excellent. Besides that, I have a good knowledge of the royalty free music available around the web, so we might be able to cobble together a better soundtrack.

I can, basically, help with editing the Localization, I can make new kingdoms and empires, I can edit the music files, I can do general work, I can find us mini-mods to integrate, and I can easily learn to help with anything else.

Wait, wait, wait! 100 AD and second century is time of Roman greatest power! No barbarians were "bombarding" empire yet- it all started in third age. Also Christianity wasn't very popular religion in this times- Roman pantheon was dominating. Judea definitively can't be considered as christian than. Maybe You should set Christians as minority (province modifiers), which will expand using events. Also You'll have to implement some mechanics to prevent RE overextension (they'll surely eat everything before Huns arrive).

Roman vassals(provincial governors) held big chunks of the world, compared to CKII. The 'far away' relation penalty will be pretty heavy, as it's a long way from Rome to Spain, for example. The byzantines already have this penalty for vassals in Armenia or Croatia, so it will be a big penalty for Roman governors of Britain.

rome was at its full pax romana extent, but christianity was just formin, hence the name Revelation of rome. this is like a rise of christianity kind of mod than a roman centered mod. its like making roman pantheon as super power religion and christianity (not yet called catholic) as a minor pagan religion with just 2 provinces but with buffed conversion rates. Now regarding empire distance penalies, cant this be modeed like demesne sizes?! i just came home i have some few pms but i will take a bath bfore i anwser-

doesn't some general resketched provinces is required ? I hardly think year 1200 provinces are the same as Roman period's. I think it is an important point and any of the now many ongoing mods on Rome or post Rome are taking this into account.

i have good news Choldio is making a new map from scratch and adding provinces based on that time period!
I am starting to make the "kingdoms" and "duchies" on the land_titles
of course in the mod they will not be calles kingdoms or duchies, but its a technical term xD
