So, I'm about to click the westernization button as soon as I finish coring the new territory I liberated from Portugal along the Ivory Coast.
I apparently forgot to upload the diplomatic screenshot, so... Xi, Miao, Malacca, and Mewar are my vassals. Spain is my ally (mostly because I keep getting +dip missions for it). That could be useful in my next Portuguese war as they seem to be dead set on attacking each other.
The annexation of Xi will finish up in the next couple of years - I'm considering delaying westernizing until then, but the need to not have over-extension to start means I don't want to delay much. I have plenty of admin and military points, but not nearly enough dip. Will probably refocus.
Once my money situation resolved it started to get easier - crushed my way up the African coast with one army and picked at China and India with a mostly mercenary force in order to finally start to grow manpower. This last year I finally (for the first time) had more manpower stored up then I started with.
It's a much later westernization then I'd counted on, but with Portugal and Spain fighting I had to go to them. Shrug. Probably good for me longterm. Exploring the coast of California now and then maybe they'll let me explore the actual land in Brazil; hope to get a second colonial nation set up soon.
Question - can I move my trade capital to the Ivory coast for the future planned on Treasure Fleets or do I need to break into North Africa/Europe? I don't think they'll make it to SE Asia somehow.
