I am glad our Danish friends have established a People's state. And without needing our army forcing it through! Astonishing, other people can bring socialism without our men put at risk! Perhaps pacifist Anarchism is right!

Just like in France some years ago?

PS: Good to see Pablo Iglesias. :D

We should seek to establish a "Friendly Accord" with the Italians and perhaps the French. Then we will not need to stand alone should we come to blow with the ancient regimes in Austria or the Ottoman empire. It is unlikely that people from such backwards nations could ever embrace socialism (how can there be socialism without industry already in place?) but we might at least remove the greatest threats to our people if it comes to conflict.

I disagree, Bhutan has proven that anything is possible. If anything, we should focus our propaganda efforts on Austria-Hungary, with the intention of changing our greatest threat into an ally and close friend.

Do not forget also that while the unification of Italy was partly a populist movement, a King sits on the Italian throne (and I assume, France is still a Monarchy at this stage). I believe we should only negotiate with Italy if we are desperate.

It's a rework of the old nazi 'The Jew' propaganda poster, and I found it on an imageboard.

Now on topic
We should work toward destabilising the Kaiser-regime!

Finally, the newly integrated Berlin district would see the arrival of mislock and his associates, as well as a propaganda campaign as so favoured by the anarchists - wheatpaste and cheap posters begin to litter the boulevards and avenues of the former Prussian Capital.

The borders of the VSVR are still ugly.
Luxembourg must be annexed to rectify that!

Can we have Volksreferendum;
Move the capital to Berlin.

Köln is too close to French border.
And this way show former Prussians how much we care of them and how badly we want them integrated.
Österreich will not stand for long on the map.

For once I agree with you! Berlin is a dynamic, modern city. What a perfect place for the new capital of the world's first Socialist republic!

Hooray for Engels! Had I known he'd invade Prussia, invest in infrastructure and the Navy and spread Socialism to Denmark and Bhutan I would have voted for him!

Also, What's the deal with Italy? Did they invade Switzerland?

S-P invaded Switzerland very early in the game before they were both put into France's SoI.

XD

It's all good and well to shun the Tsar's advances, but the republic should not isolate ourselves entirely. We should at least consider the regimes around us. For example the Italians at least have a movement somewhat supported by the people.

In the same way, all effort should be made to continue the construction of our mighty navy. If we can surpass the naval might of England, they will surely remove themselves from European affairs!

I really considered the Russian alliance. With that I could have quickly plunged in Austria safe in the knowledge that victory was assured. But I decided it wouldn't make too much sense in game.

I wouldn't get too carried away with the Red Navy. 9 ironclads and 9 monitors don't make a fleet capable of invading Britain but they do make me the supreme power in the Baltic and allow me to feel able to defend my coastline or even project power abroad. However the main reason I built them was to provide demand for my steamer shipyards which were losing lots of money.

The borders of the VSVR are still ugly.

I've wanted to do this for a long time. Unfortunately I must release them from the Dutch first - the Dutch are in the UK's SoI and are allied to Russia whilst Lux is in France's SoI. So unless I want to get involved in a massive series of wars Luxemburg shall continue to make my borders ugly.

Have you both gone mad?

Cologne was the first socialist city in the world, it is an internationally recognised symbol of the revolution. It is the the most proletarian part of the most proletarian region on earth. It has all the infrastructure already in place to be a great capital and it shimmers with glory. Better still it is defended from the French by the Belgian and Saar system of forts and is more centrally located to our vital industrial territories.

Berlin on the other hand is the dilapidated symbol of Monarchial opression that, for so long, we fought against. This would be like France conquering Britain and moving the capital to London. Berlin is a city only recently being revived from the damage it suffered in the end days of Prussia, vulnerable to both Austrian and Russian attack and within a backwater province. It is an archaic city for an archaic government - we are, as Tanzhang noted, a dynamic modern state and should thus remain in a dynamic modern city - this means away from Berlin.

Ridiculous!

Finally I'd like to note that Italy is actually in the French SoI making an alliance at the moment impossible. They are the number 9 power about 20-40 points behind the Turks. The Turkish lead it mostly built upon industry.

I suggest Kassel, or some place that is as central as you can get. :)

Victory! The Blanquist threat to our republic has been neutralised and the Young Anarchist threat looks set to simply melt away. Civil War has been averted. The presses are free. The revolution has been expanded. This is a great time for the VSVR.

I do have one point, though. Why is Denmark still operating a separate state? To have multiple workers' states is a contradiction in terms, there can only be an international proletarian republic! We are the United Socialist People's Republic. Will this issue be addressed by the main parties, as was the Wallonian Question?

Re:Foreign Policy, I am on the fence. On the one hand, playing the capitalist powers against each other would probably gain us good results, but an alliance with one of them would rightly be seen as a betrayal of our principles.

To move the capital would be madness! In days to come Cologne will be a proletarian Rome. A shining beacon, the city where a new world was born.

No, It would be more like the Russians changing St. Petersburg to Leningrad. Berlin may be located in a backwater province and damaged from the attack, but this simply means a new, clean slate to build on. Unlike Cologne, Berlin can be rebuilt from the ground up in a truly Socialist image, what better way to show the newly liberated Berliners the glory of socialism? (by providing them with new jobs in construction)

Also, what better way to signify the end of the old regime by constructing a monument to the glory of socialism in it's place?

A closer analogy would be the USSR changing capital from Petrograd to Moscow, but in reverse since this (moving from Köln to Berlin) would be actually moving TO the old monarchical capital instead of from it.

Berlin or Cologne? Now that's a good question.

--------------------------------------
Hurrah to Comrade Engels! Hurrah to the Red Army! Hurrah to the people! This shall be an example to all of the ruling class! But, comrades, we shouldn't rest! There is more work to be done! We have killed the Prussian snake but there are more out there slithering around us. We must do everything to keep our loving and glorious Socialist republic from harm whether through war or shrewd diplomacy but an alliance with a Reactionary state? Bah! Ridiculous!

As for our Danish brethrens, we must integrate Denmark into our glorious republic! We are the people and we are suppose to be together and one.

Further more, I disagree with the calls for moving the capital to Berlin, comrades. Cologne is the Rome of the proletariat world. All roads lead to it! If we move to Berlin then it would just bring a bad message to our honest and hard-working people that we are just there to replace the reactionaries that they just overthrown!

Long live the revolution!

well, you could argue that Moscow was the capital before Peter built St. Petersburg, so they were moving it back to the old old monarchical capital...

I think we have to realise that we are no longer just a Rhineland Commune, we are a German one. Today Germany, Tomorrow Europe!

We are not a German commune, we are an international one! And even if we were, why is Berlin more German than Cologne?

Anyway, this bickering over the capital is pointless, it affects politics in no way :p

If I wasn't clear last time the capital WILL NOT change. It is pointless in every single way.

We Will be an International one, but we have to conquer the world first!

All this talk about annexing Demnark (which I'm against BTW, at least for now...) has got me thinking, Isn't about time we start hearing more about the Comintern? I assume it exists already because it was mentioned briefly in the lastest update.

We must focus our efforts on finally unifying the Fatherland! The revolution must be encouraged in the south! The people must rebel against the last bourgeouis monarchs, so that we may have a unified Germany! And from there, we can work to inspire peasants everywhere to rise up and throw off their shackles and join us!

I agree that we should look towards Bayern for our next war of unification; If we cannot unify the German peoples how can we unify the rest of the world? I also think that we should for the time being, focus on the proletariat rather than the peasants.
