During the early 20th century the VSVR experienced a cultural flourishing in literature. Just as 'socialist poetry' emerged as an accomplished genre in its one right many novels and plays began to appear, written by the people of the Republic.

One of the main themes of these new works was the Rhineland Revolution which gave birth to the VSVR. By the early 20th century those who could remember the revolution were slowly fading away. New generations had lived their entire lives after the Revolution and interest in the foundation of the Republic started to grow. This led to a series of works detailing the events of the Revolution. Amongst the most successful was ''The Battle of Koblenz'' by Comrade LeCare. The play takes place before and after the cruicial Battle of Koblenz during which the revolutionary forces led by Weydemeyer defeated the Prussians under General Wrangel to secure their freedom.

The Battle of Koblenz
A socialist Play

Act 1:

Koblenz, shortly after the great revolution. General Wrangel and his reactionary troops are advancing towards Cologne. Meanwhile Weydemeyer is rallying the proletariat of a small village which includes a Prussian Proletarian, a Badenese and a mysterious cloaked figure.

Weydemeyer: Comrades, the bourgeoisie is advancing fast. Their troops are here to destroy the revolution!

Proletarian: But they have thousands of troops

Badenese: Yes, they will outnumber us

Proletarian: And their modern guns

Badenese: Yes, we can’t match their guns!

Weydemeyer: I see, I see. It is fear which is stopping you. But there is no need to fear comrades. Their guns cannot break our will!

Proletarian: But Wrangel is an expert

Badenese: He will surround us!

Proletarian: Yes, we will be slaughtered!

Badenese: One by one!

Proletarian: All of us!

Weydemeyer: But are you not being slaughtered already comrades? You (points at the Badenese) where do you work?

Badenese: I work in a factory in Karlsruhe

Weydemeyer: How long is your day?

Badenese: 15 hours, 14 on Christmas

Weydemeyer: What happens if you are late?

Badenese: I get no pay

Weydemeyer: What if you make a mistake?

Badenese: I get whipped by the boss

Weydemeyer: And if you resist?

Badenese: I can’t. They say they will take my wife!

Weydemeyer: So are you not being slaughtered already comrade?

Badenese: Yes I am!

Weydemeyer: And you, what about you (points at the proletarian)?

Proletarian: I work in a Prussian shipyard

Weydemeyer: How is it like?

Proletarian: It is very dangerous. Every day someone falls of the upper deck. We told them a million times to build a railing but they don’t listen to us

Weydemeyer: Why don’t they listen?

Proletarians: They say it is too expensive!

Weydemeyer: So you face a brutal death every day but you fear Prussian rifles?

Proletarian: Not anymore!

Weydemeyer: So let us go and fight!

Weydemeyer starts giving out guns to the excited crowd. Meanwhile the cloaked man approaches the Badenese

Cloaked man: You, wait

Weydemeyer: What is it comrade?

Cloaked man: You are from Baden or?

Badenese: Indeed I am

Cloaked man: So how does it feel?

Badenese: I don’t understand

Cloaked man: How does it feel to betray one’s nation?

Badenese: What?

Cloaked man: Your fatherland has given you life and now you’re stabbing it in the back?

Badenese: (Shocked) I am?

Cloaked man: Yes, if Germany is fighting against itself it is open to the Russian hordes. You are betraying Baden and Germany!

Badenese: Ohh no… I don’t want that

Cloaked man: Oh yes, the Russians will murder us all and rape your wife!

Badenese: No!

Cloaked man: Yes!

Weydemeyer, hearing these words, jumps to the cloaked man

Weydemeyer: Stop lying you spy!

Weydemeyer reaches out and rips of the man’s cloak. A Prussian uniform is revealed.
Spy: No!

He draws his sword

Die you peasants!

He raises his sword to strike Weydemeyer. In the last moment the Badenese jumps between the two and gets stabbed instead. This gives Weydemeyer enough time to reach for his pistol and confront the spy. The spy, sneaky as he is, drops his sword and starts running. Weydemeyer, faced with the decision of pursuing the routed reactionary or immediately administering first aid to the Badenese, decides that saving a comrade is more important. Yet there is no hope, the Badenese is dead. Enraged Weydemeyer stands up and stares at the shockled crowd.

Weydemeyer: Do you see now comrades? This will be your fate too! Yours and yours and yours. And it will be your sons fate too. And the sons of your sons will die too. All this will happen unless fight now. Are you with me or with them?

All: With you

Weydemeyer: Then let us fight!

- Comrade LeCare

Oh Marx, please no.

Is this the election where the opposition ceases to exist?

Is it that there is no one left toe fight against Trotsky?
Has he won?

The revolution has ended. Trotsky shall rule. The party rules uncontested.
Freedom is the freedom of the party member.

Is it that DA nor NK have nothing to offer, anything that separates us from Trotsky?

Time to make last steps to unite people of the world, Marxists are best choice for now)
But as I understand, if Marxists have 66% of votes, they can change constitution?

Right, here goes:

A red day dawns
The capitalists are gone
The people rejoice

Oh and:
In America, Uncle Sam wants YOU for the army.
In Soviet Germany, YOU want Uncle Sam for the army. :p
