DEMOCRATS.
They are saying exactly what I said. Although, perhaps it would make the warmongers see the error of their ways if they were to see the inevitable consequences of their actions. The VSVR, brutally ransacked, with its infrastructure in ruins. Corpses lying on the streets of Cologne and Berlin, left there by the retreating Red Army, as the victorious British, Americans, French and Russians parade down the streets, banners and flags fluttering in the breeze. Victors in a war, the horror and scale of which is unimaginable.

((It's nice to see that, in this election, the nightmare scenario Comrade Bob put forth is seeing use in Party policy. Tommy, if these Napoleon metaphors and warnings of international coalitions have any connection with my little rant, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for putting my words in the mouths of the VSVR's politicians)).

Luxemburgists

Though the idea of a worldwide revolution that Trotsky proposes we initiate at once is tempting, as we could defeat the continental powers of France, Austria-Hungary and Russia, but adding the United Kingdom into that pot would certainly bring down our revolution. I do disagree with the party policy of not initiating war with any Great Power, as I sorely wish that the Austrian feudalistic state is brought down once and for all, it is choosing the lesser evil in the choice between the Luxemburgists and Marxist-Leninists.

Another reason I do not wish to vote for the Marxist-Leninists is the horrible notion that any political faction should be banned from the party! The only way to solve is to attack the reason to why they protest in such a way, not the symptoms of those reasons

"Whether they be Marxist, Anarchist or reactionary nationalist they cannot be allowed to destroy the unity of the Republic with mindless violence." is stated in the Marxist-Leninist policy. This has the potential of being horribly abused at the hands of the wrong people. What is the definition of destroying the unity of our Republic? Is Non-orthodox thought, or questioning the government destroying the unity? Could one even go as far as not being a Marxist is against the republic's unity?

I partially disagree with the Luxemburgists way of handling the economy, as it seems that even though a crisis would appear in a region, they would not intervene and let the Soviets handle it. If I was in control of the economy, I would only intervene if the unemployment of the region was spiraling out of control, also if the republic was importing goods I would subsidize or create an industry in a needing area to achieve autarky of our great republic, so that we don't need to import good from capitalist states. It may be that the Luxemburgists want this as well, but their policies were not to clear upon that matter.

By this I believe our revolution will continue without being struck down by reactionary elements, both internally and externally.

I am new to the forum but I will take the Liberty to rally what no one else dares to rally and make my own little newspaper (doesnt reflect real views obviously):

DEUTSCHLAND:
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH

50 years ago the first Socialist Republic of the World was created.
Do you know where it was created? Yes, indeed, it was formed on the banks of the shimmering blue Rhine. Why was it created there? Why was it not formed by the Thames or along the Oder? Why didn't the comrades rise up near the Nile? Why is the amazon still in the hands of the burgeoisie? The answer is as simple as it is obvious. It is because the Rhine is in Deutschland!

Germany has always been at the lead of international social development. When the Germans first arrived in Europe they achieved what no one would have ever thought possible. They forced the tyrannical Roman Empire and its immortal army which had terrorised europe for centuries to its knees. They did this without having the gold or the technology or the brilliant generals that rome had. No, they performed this feat simply by employing their sheer unbreakable willpower which made their very skin into an armor the roman swords could never have penetrated.

The Germans, it is a fact we all know comrades, simply are superior in all respects to the other nationalities of Europe.Socialism rose in the Rhine because only the Deutsche Volk has the inherent intelligence, the inherent physical strength and the inherent deep respect for order that is required to build a socialist egalitarian state.
Now you might disagree with me. But the facts are on my side!
Or why is that always our army has to restore order in Spain?
Why is that always our army has to defend Finnland?
Why is it that always our army has to help when the Turks want to conquer something?
Why do brave Germans always have to die for those who lack the will to defend themselves?
Why do brave Germans have to bleed when others in the comintern are too incompetent to control their peasant rabble?
Why is that the biggest industry of the Comintern is in the Ruhr while the the wallonian factories consume ever more subsidies?

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.
Enough German blood has been spilled for nothing. Enough German work has been stolen.
We have to cast of these parasites for they simply, even if they would finally start trying, cannot in this century and the cannot in the next cenjtury next establish anything which comes close to the Socialist Utopia Germans alone could establish. It is not their fault, it is Darwin's fault, some are just born with it, some are not.

The anarchist maniacs of brussels, the peasant rabble of the East and the other nations which continue to eat the funds desperately needed for economic advancement need to finally be ejected from the VSVR so the Deutsche Volk can concentrate on itself. We will of course be lenient in some ways and still support the Comintern with some of our soldiers as they simply are lost without us good us Germans but the kind of commitment we made in the past 50 years was simply much too much and such shall never be repeated.

Also we have to solve our internal problems. Germans are a Volk of order and efficiency, anarchist savages have no place in our society. While we are fighting amongst ourselves the capitalists are planning our destruction! It needs a clean sweep! And above all it needs a stronger army. Too long foreign reactionaries have been infiltrating this thin red line that protects us from the power of commerce and now our army has become weak and I doubt it still is reliable. After all one of its most prominent commanders could very well be a Russian spy, just waiting for his chance to fullfil his desire of becoming like his only true friend: the Tsar!
All votes for Trotsky go directly to St. Petersburg Comrades!

Also we finally have to unite all of the Deutsche Volk. Austria is ready for an Anschluss into our great VSVR and it would be a crime to leave it any longer under the oppression of this Habsburg Mini-Tsar.

Also our continuation of efforts to populate africa have to be continued. For our ever expanding Deutsche Volk desperately needs a Raum to live in. As to Foreign Policy we also have to finally have to come to terms with the British. They are the only Volk which somewhat comes close to the Germans in term of inherent capabilities and it is a pity that they are not yet part of our VSVR, for they would be the only addition that would make sense. Either we propose an alliance to them or we will use our unbreakable will to bring Socialism from London up to the Highlands, and if even if we need to swim the channel to achieve it, we shall do it!

We can achieve everything, you see, if we just finally cast of our last chains. These chains we ourselves have molded. They need to be broken so the Deutsche Volk can rise and fulfil the task Marx has honoured us with: to create the Nation where all Germans will be equal and live in infinite prosperity. A task only we Germans can achieve.

So, heed my words Germany, enough is enough!
Do you want German Utopia or multiculti chaos?
It is your decision VSVR!

I vote for the True Germans

I want to vote for the Luxemburgists again. I really do. But is the beginning of a new century not the perfect symbolic time to begin the worldwide revolution in earnest? We may actually live to see world communism after all! The Marxist-Leninists will have my vote again, and I would be most pleased if they formed another coalition with the Luxemburgists, with the same power-sharing agreement as last time.

Luxemburgists

Though in some ways I prefer Marxist-Leninists, their foreign policy agenda - at this point - seems suicidal. We must first and foremost preserve the Republic and the international socialist sphere. Furthermore, Luxemburgists' willingness to reject Marxist orthodoxy and continue to innovate our economic system while remaining fully within communist theory must be applauded.

I came in to this election thinking it would be a straight choice between the Marxist-leninists and the Revolutionaries, however, I cannot back either. The M-Ls policy on the scissors crisis is unbelivably oppressive while the fact the Revs do not even mention the crisis on the street is unbelivably contemptuos. However, I found a faction that follows my views, apart from some minor disagreements of foreign policy, thus saving me from having to abstain. Vote Luxemburgists comrades!

What's the tally so far? I'm curious as to how big the M-L's lead is.
By my count, the M-Ls have a ten vote lead. But don't quote me on that.

How can anyone vote for Trotsky? He goes by a Russian name despite his real name being German (Bronstein).

If another faction gets into a close vote with the M-L traitors, I will add my support to them, even if it isn't the anarchists.

Tommy, sorry to bother you, but are the Revolutionaries reactionary? True Germans definitely are, but isn't Sorel proposing a new social reform, better safety regulations?

A SPARK-INTERNATIONALE JOINT ISSUE

In the human spirit of sympathy for the departed, in the cooperative spirit of the outgoing coalition government, and in the immortal spirit of workers’ solidarity, Spark and Internationale, the papers of the Marxist-Leninist and Luxemburgist factions, have collaborated to distribute the following document. The late Rosa Luxemburg left this document, among many others in her extensive files, to her comrade Leo Jogiches, currently President of the Warsaw Soviet, formerly the leader-in-exile of Polish Social Democracy in Russia. The document came to light only after the conclusion of the Finnish War, as Comrade Jogiches was transferring his files to the Council House in Warsaw. Though it has been left behind somewhat by events, and reflects neither faction’s position perfectly, the leaderships of both factions agree that it would be in the Public’s best interest for this document to be distributed, read, and discussed as widely as possible both within the People’s Party and in the Republic as a whole. It is thus my pleasure to introduce to you the late Comrade Luxemburg’s thoughts on the national question in our Republic. Comrade Jogiches believes this document constituted her notes for a book on the subject, which, sadly, we will never see.
-Comrade Zimmerwald

ON THE NATIONAL QUESTION
Among other problems, the disruptions of the True Germans have brought into focus the nationality question. However, this most radical proposal comes from a faction whose outlook is fundamentally bourgeois. The formula of the right of the various nationalities of the VSVR to determine their fate independently even to the point of the right of governmental separation from the VSVR is proclaimed again with doctrinaire obstinacy as a special battle cry of Bismarck and his friends. It constitutes the axis of their internal policy for after their seizure of power.

One is immediately struck with the obstinacy and rigid consistency with which Bismarck and his friends stick to this slogan, a slogan which is in sharp contradiction to their otherwise outspoken centralism in politics as well as to the attitude they have assumed towards other democratic principles. While they show a quite cool contempt for the Constituent Assembly, universal suffrage, freedom of press and assemblage, in short, for the whole apparatus of the basic democratic liberties of the people which, taken all together, constituted the “right of self-determination” inside the VSVR, they treat the of peoples to separate from the Republic as a jewel of democratic policy for the sake of which all practical considerations of real criticism in their faction and in the People’s Party have to be stilled.

The contradiction that is so obvious here is all the harder to understand since the democratic forms of political life in each land, as we shall see, actually involve the most valuable and even indispensable foundations of socialist policy, whereas the famous “right of self-determination of nations” is nothing but hollow, petty-bourgeois phraseology and humbug.

If, despite all this, such generally sober and critical politicians as Bismarck and his friends, who have nothing but an ironical shrug for every sort of “utopian” phrase, have in this case made a hollow phrase of exactly the same kind into their special hobby. Bismarck and his friends clearly calculated that there was no surer method of binding the many nationalities within the VSVR to the cause of their faction, than that of offering them, in the name of the revolution and of socialism, the most extreme freedom to determine their own fate. We can only observe, unfortunately for them but fortunately for the cause of socialism, that their calculation was entirely wrong.

The best proof is Wallonia, which has played so frightful a role in the “rise” of the True German faction. Wallonian nationalism in the VSVR is a mere whim, a folly of a few dozen petty-bourgeois intellectuals without the slightest roots in the economic, political or psychological relationships of the country; it does not enjoy the support of the people, it is without any historical tradition, since Wallonia never formed a nation or government, and it is without any national culture, except for a few reactionary-romantic poems. It is exactly as if, one fine day, the people living in the Wasserkante should want to found a new Low-German nation and government! And this ridiculous pose of a few university professors and students was inflated into a political force by Bismarck and his friends for their own political advantage through their doctrinaire agitation concerning the “right of self-determination.” To what was at first a mere farce they lent such importance that the farce has become a matter of the most deadly seriousness – not as a serious national movement for which, afterward as before, there are no roots at all, but as a shingle and rallying flag of counter-revolution!

Instead of this hollow nationalistic phraseology, those comrades committed to socialism must defend tooth and nail the integrity of the VSVR as the stronghold of the revolution. We must oppose to all forms of separatism the solidarity and inseparability of the proletarians in all lands. So long as the socialist proletariat fights as a part of the closed revolutionary phalanx, it possesses a position of dominant power. It takes the majority in every parliament, it indoctrinates all armies; it reduces the bourgeoisies of the world to complete impotence, and it becomes master of its own fate in all countries.

-Comrade Luxemburg

According to Zimmerwald's PM this is just an editted extract from a Rosa Luxemburg book. So the credit must go to Rosa.

Anyone feel like a first tally?

Total 29

M-Ls: 15 (At this stage Trotsky is looking like a very likely candidate)
Lux: 4
TG: 3
Anarchists: 3
Dems: 3
Revs: 1

Impressively Trotsky currently has more than 50% of the vote. No Chairman has ever achieved such a result.

Tommy, sorry to bother you, but are the Revolutionaries reactionary? True Germans definitely are, but isn't Sorel proposing a new social reform, better safety regulations?
Sorry about the social reform thing, I just copied and pasted that from the last election. :eek:o

I'm not sure if you can call them reactionaries. I guess its all a matter of opinion. Are they furthering the revolution by raising the peasantry up or are they fighting against it? Some would say they are the most progressive others would say they are reactionaries.
