I'm enjoying to be able to customize nation (as in nation designer and in general) and today I'm suggesting to implement ability for the player to Choose Country's Military Units Models.

Let me expand on this by stating how I arrived at this:
I have played for Ulm (part of HRE). I have expanded my country and eventually dissolved HRE and conquered all provinces that require me to create Germany. however what a disappointment was to me when my UNIQUE looking Ulm military unit transformed into default ugly face looking military unit (3rd generation military default model unit, this model must have nose correction:eek:). Now, I'm not here to talk about issue with this model, what got my disappointment is loosing my unique military appearance.

"Germany is unique country and it has default unit looking military? Really? Come on..." said to my self. I thought wouldn't it be cool if I would be able to pick my own military model unit for every era from existing models in the game? So I had to reload and NOT to form Germany because - yes because I love my unique looking units ;)

So here is what I suggest:
Let player choose how their military units are looking for every era from existing models pool (and let this pool be expandable through modding). Add in Military tab button "Reform Military Uniform" spend some 5 or 10 administrative points on it. A dialog will pop up to conform this and if yes you get event pop up dialog box saying something "New Uniforms are greatly welcomed by military officers, you have +1 morale for one year (as example) and you can not change uniform for the next 5 years (as example)".

If country does not doing so well message would be a little bit different "New Uniforms met with skepticism, who in such a troubling times would care of soldiers uniforms when other more important matters are at stake? Nevertheless it seems armies moral rose +1 for one year"

I'm not suggesting that European countries can have Indian's or Chines or Peru's unit models to choose from - this should be region based unit selection pool. I'm also not suggesting any crazy stuff that I might have overlooked, obviously everything should be proper to culture and region. All in all I think this little flavor feature allows you to individualize you country especially it matters when you are CREATING you own nation! I would love to see this coming true, be able to not only to design my own nation but define (choose from) its military appearance as well - seems as a cool feature to me.

I'm not suggesting that this is "RIGHT NOW" add feature, it's just something in due time.
What do you think of this?

Love this suggestion. I remember how distraught I was when I formed Russia as Novgorod. I immediately reloaded and disabled the alert for the decision :D

mm the only problem i see in this, is that they have 5 set out states of being for these models over time, i think it would be hard to code when say you get guns and suddenly the thing is different, and also that you may have to change it every time this happens, *only 4 states exist in eu4, the 5th is unused. if you dont know what i mean by the 5 states you can check out unit models on the wiki.

Eemmm... I think you miss understood what I'm saying/proposing. You just swopping model let say at stage 1 of default European, with let say model of stage 1 of ULM for example - you cant swop model with say Turkish stage 1 model (cultural differences, it wont be in your European model pool available any way). That's all there is to it. You just pick model for your military unit representation at stage 1 from available pool to pick. You cant pick from stage 2 or higher if your military units at stage 1 model look (or likewise around).

All they need to do is to make interface modifications, add pop up events, create new window with units to pick from and swopping code and you are done and bind this unit window to Nation Designer so that you will at creation of your nation pick military units model for each stage.

Is this more clearer, distinclty now?

I doubt about glitches, since I doubt models binded to nation in some bizarre way. It's just depends on how engine takes care to give model for each nation. If it's just "go there and fetch me this model" it's each peasy thing to munipulate - no different from like you do in any game, replacing one model with another.

In addition to support this feature I can say that some times I'm playing one nation too often and some differences (even slightest) in the appearance is a nice thing and it even makes more sense for nation designer - after all you are creating your nation dont you have a right to pick your military appearance?

Ah, that makes a lot more sense to me now (I just got back from a 8 day school trip btw.) I agree with your idea.
