Hi again,

I'm 2 weeks into EU, and it's starting to show. I'm running out of excuses for my boss and gf over why I look so tired, and I'm starting to increase my caffeine intake. (At this rate, I'll be buying things from places like ThinkGeek.com soon - eeek!)

I'm sure it's too early for the 12-Step Program ("Hi, my name is M_W, and it's been 2 waking hours, 43 minutes and 12.3 seconds since I last played EU").
Isn't it?
I'm not -really- addicted, I can stop any time I want...

How do you manage to have lives while also having this installed on your computers?

Lives...what lives? :D
just wait until you get EUII.

Jokes aside...I try not to play during my School(for you work) days....and it takes massive amounts of will power.

Too late.

Do not get EUII. It is pure evil incarnate, never give in to it.

Apart from that, force yourself to stop playing. If it helps, uninstall v1.10 and go back to an earlier version, hopefully the crashes can frustrate you enough to stop the addiction, and then when you have it under control, go back to v1.10. Hope that helps. :)

Ok, okay, I'll bite ...

I've seen a number of comments saying that EUII is evil.

Why is this?

No, I'm not after a feature vs feature debate - there're plenty of those threads. I am curious why the extremist emotional positions taken, though...
Any comments?

I second that comment. I've never played EU2 myself, and I'm way too cheap to buy another highly similar game while I'm having so much fun with EU1, so what gives the EU1/EU2 debate such a life-or-death flavor?

MW,

Good to see another Aussie find his way to the best games on earth, there are so few of us here! :(

As a guy in from (near the) beginning i can tell you that each game Paradox has released has this effect on people. I've got EU, HOI and Vicky under my belt.

I came back to playing EU this week, loaded up v1.0 with no mods, after i became concerned at the length of time I was spending on Vicky I figured an hour with an old classic would relax me before bed. I turned the machine off at 3am that night! WOW, it is still as good as when I got it - and this was regular CTD's and all! I didn't even have the GC mod where you pick your nation, I just loaded up England and off I went (Lets just say that when Liz took the throne, she had a common border with Austria! :D )

EU to EU2 may look similar but it is like comparing the old to the new Holden Monaro - they are both classics, greats of their time but VERY different! Appreciate what you've got, burn the candle at both ends and then upgrade to HOI and Vicky in turn.

If you keep moving from game to game you'll never get addicted! At least, that's what I've been telling myself!

Cheers,
Duritz.
