I just had an idea, and thought sharing it:
One of the problems of using Defense Platforms, is that you have to manually rebuild them everytime they get destroyed. So I thought of a simple idea to remove possible unnecessary micro here: Destroyed platforms get rebuild automatically, this with their maintenance. So the maintenance of destroyed platforms continues to exist, but for destroyed platforms, it accumulates to rebuild the platform back again. This would also help to keep a more constant flow of resources. Each platform will have a toggle to rebuild said platform when destroyed. If disabled, it would just follow the current system.

Additional notes:
- A destroyed platform will rebuild itself to the newest design. If the design no longer exists, it will be counted as destroyed with the toggle off.
- Once the accumulation completed, it will start building itself in the build queue.
- Cancelling a destroyed platform that is accumulating will grant the resources back.
- Cannot change the toggle on a destroyed platform (would lead to complex situations). You want it back, or you don't. Trying to pause this accumulation will only the micro harder.
- It has been several months since I've played Stellaris tbh, but the wiki tells me platforms only have energy maintenance, so the biggest issue with my proposal would be that I propose to convert energy into alloys...
