It looks like the newer Intel chips finally have an acceptable integrated GPU, but it's still Intel integrated graphics so I wouldn't expect stellar performance.

there's a mod called Fast Universalis that makes the game run better on potato computers. I'm not sure if it's been updated for the most recent patch, worth checking
It actually runs very well. I can play for a couple of hours without issue. I tried to use a mod for extended timeline and i thought it was due to my laptop not being able to handle it but i think it was more stability issues with me being on version 1.3.3 and it being 1.3.1.
it's not really necessary. i haven't tried putting many mods on my game though.

Good to know the Intel internal graphics are worth something finally.
