I read mention of using the F11 key to show where the fertile land is. I tried but could not make heads or tails of the colors. And then additional presses of F11 generate different grids. Anyone want to post a guide or legend as to what it all means?

TIA!

Heya!

So there isn't really any legend for these however I'll do my best to explain them here:
  1. Fertility of the soil. This is the one I believe you were looking for?
    1. Dark blue = Most fertile soil
    2. Green = Normal soil
    3. Yellow = Barren soil
    4. Turquoise = Water (lakes etc)
    5. Grey = Mountains
  2. Blocked cells.
    1. Green = Unblocked cell (this unfortunately does not take into count that mountains and lakes do block cells in their own way)
    2. Red = Blocked cell (either large deposit or building)
    3. Orange = Building entry cells
    4. Pink = Smaller deposit
  3. Blocked cells by changes in Terrain
    1. Green = Available terrain for building
    2. Dark Blue = Water
    3. Yellow = Uneven terrain (mountains etc)
  4. Placed roads
    1. Yellow = No road in this cell
    2. Green = Road built in this cell
  5. Placed roads with difference showing in between the roads
    1. Yellow = No road built in this cell
    2. Lighter Green = Dirt Road built in this cell
    3. Darker Green = Pavement built in this cell
  6. Explored area
    1. Green = Cells that have been explored
Hopefully these help you out a bit. Thanks for playing!

Can there be a way to smooth out some terrain? Obviously not mountains, but some areas like craters or cracks in the ground or something like that?

Why is that?
Our original idea was to remove these before they reached our players - however we decided to leave them in so that if someone would want to, they could use them at least while we are in Early Access. We knew we would be adding at least some kind of Overlays (which were added in the previous update), so those were designed to be used instead of these, at least eventually. As we have only limited resources and time, we did not want to use too much of it on something that would most likely be removed at some point so we did not add any sort of legend for these at any point. Of course as seen with our updates, plans and ideas change while developing a game, so the fate of these is a bit unclear, so enjoy them while they are there!
