Just wanted to start this thread with a little aside; I've steered well clear of all this Aztec sectarian warfare that has split these forums, 'cos I think the amount of childish bickering is a little silly. I don't like the idea for the new DLC, I won't be shelling out the money for it personally, but I won't chastise anybody who does. I love Paradox and I love CK II, there's no reason for any of us to resort to being so damn childish about this. I'm flogging a dead horse and repeating what's been said a million times, but I just wanted to throw my name in to the "Peaceful Protesters" section of this forum.
Anyways so back to Legacy of Rome. I have two questions about the new DLC that I'm curious about--
Firstly, can non-Greek Byzantine Emperors reform the Roman Empire?
I'm playing as an Irish character right now, and I aim to unite the island into a Kingdom and, eventually, create the Empire of Britannia, but, in the longer term, I think it'd be pretty sweet to put a nice shiny eagle over my throne and declare myself Caesar Augustus O'Doherty, or, whatever the word for "Caesar" is in Irish (don't look at me, I'm only from here, I don't speak the god damn language...) If I was to manoeuvre myself onto the ERE throne, retaining my Irish culture (and, for sake of argument, the Catholic faith, as it would make dealing with my original lands a lot easier), is it possible to trigger the Roman intrigue option?
And while we're discussing reunification of East and West...what happens if the Miaphysites bring back the Pentarchy?
I think it's cool that Africa now gets their own Christian religion, even if they don't live long enough to see any of it restored. But if, by chance, a Godly King of Abyssinia was to beat off the Fatimid Hordes (err, militarily, not the other way...), retake Alexandria, thus restoring the Coptic Pope to power, and spread out over the world, installing Miaphysite Patriarchs in each of the five holy sees, what would happen? Would it cause an event that would render Catholocism AND Orthodoxy heretics to the Miaphysite faith, or, is it just empty sprinkling to make the game's smallest playable religion (not counting heresies I suppose) look cool?
As a purely aesthetic question...
I love the Byzantine music. It's the only music DLC I have and I'm really impressed; similar question to the first, if, as an Irish character, I was to gain the Byzantine Empire and set it as my primary title, would the DLC kick in as if I had started the game as a Greek, and play the cool new music?
Thanks for your kind help in advance, Aztecs and Conquistadores.
