So, first time playing Byzantine starting as emperor, and am going to try and finish a whole campaign. After learning how to manage my kingly vassals and avoid to many faction wars, I've found that it's turned into a fast-paced race to conquer everything.
I almost lost the throne during a succession crisis, my dastardly regent killed me as a young boy emperor, and I thought for sure a pretender would rise up and kill off the remains of my family. However, for some reason everybody liked my younger brother (heir) better and I survived as him in regency until adulthood. Now, the race for WC has begun in earnest and I'm quickly snatching up kingsdoms everywhere east of the HRE.
Is it possible to conceive of conquering every the game? I currently hold Poland Lithuania, Ruthenia, Hungary, and some of Cumania (in addition to de jure ERE territory). I suspect those conquered regions will be difficult to hold against the coming Mongol invasion?
