I checked a few places but could not get an answer, so I suspect this question is either too trivial or too complex.
Basically, I am wondering if there is any disadvantage to joining then leaving a faction.
Let me use my current scenario as an example:
I am playing a small unaligned European nation. One of my own meta-goals is to form my own faction. However, with passing time, the whole region has become much more dangerous with factions forming quickly. Any war with a faction (whether they declare on me or vice versa) will tend to pull in the whole faction.
I have just been invited to join a faction, so I am thinking I join first for "safety" then when I am powerful enough, I leave to set up my own faction and become faction leader.
Any views?
