Count of Tortosa, 1066 (may be in DVIP only, I dunno).

You start with a family (Tzamplakon) unrelated to anyone (whereas your fellow Count of Antiocheia to the north is Komnenos) and you border the Emir of Tripoli, which by extension includes Egypt itself. And of course you start with the usual 1 income-per-month thing.

On the plus side, your ruler is fairly good stats-wise (and aged 27) and his wife is just 17. There's harder Counties, but yeah.

Weird, I played Tortosa yesterday... and managed to survive 5 long years. (First event I had was a formation of Thieves Guild (although I'm not sure what they were stealing there)... so I didn't even get a chance to build my first province improvement before the game was over. By the way, Tortosa is one of those sudden death counties that are marked by two-colored shields.) Today I try to beat my personal best, and stay alive at least 7 years. It wouldn't be easy, I know.

Denmark in 1337. Good fun!

Aslo Byzantium in 1337 is good to, but not THAT hard, just different compared to the first scenario.

Also, in general the third scenario has quite some fun if you are tired of the original setup!

I just played it, and within about a game week I inherited the Principality of Antioch. Just before this happened my character became severely wounded in battle with a boar, and he died soon after becoming Prince. Then I lost the game due to being inherited by a Count.

Sounds like you used elective law. You should have switched to Salic when you became Prince. Otherwise your toughest Count is your heir, and if he's not in your dynasty oh well...
