Any know what happens if a religious supremacy/league war is fought and won when the winning faith isn't represented in the empire at all? Does the empire go to the league war leader?

Or... not. Did it again, having made more separate peaces with forced conversion, and it ended up going to one of the newly enforced catholic princes in the empire rather than to me (Spain)

...and, having remembered I can just edit, rather than making a new post, it actually appears to be that a catholic elector will be selected ahead of a (catholic) warleader of the religious league war.

In my game, Denmark was leader of the Protestants and Ansbach became HRE. Then, in the second war Aragon was the leader, and Austria, a non-participant got HRE. I would assume it goes to an HRE member if there's one eligible because Ansbach was an OPM.

As far as i know the HRE goes to the country it would go to during a normal election (meaning that relations with electors, diprep, legitimacy, part of the empire or not, etc all play a role)

So you're saying that the protestant league started (aka, Protestant elector vs Catholic emperor). The war starts and then you swapped all of the religions in the HRE back to Catholic mid-war? And in this situation, the Protestants win but the new emperor is a catholic HRE nation?

Interesting. I wonder if you did that and left a tiny country like Mantua as Protestant, if Mantua would get it?

I assume what vleup said, Protestants winning simply boots the current emperor and gives every losing nation some temporary -1000 elector voting modifier and then let's the elector vote happen naturally.

This war was the second - so the Emperor (and all of the empire. Except Milan, because they are in a PU under Spain) was protestant - and the attackers were the catholic league.

From looking at who the electors were voting for after I won (as Spain), the normal election (complete with religious restrictions) seems to be correct.
