So I just defeated the Catholic league as the Palatinate, pretty much winning every battle, leading the league and also I was the one who declared the war. Then my stupid electors randomly elect Brandenburg as the emperor with some weird "league supporter" modifier giving them 200 preference. Now, the heck is this? They didn't even contribute in any way. I want my throne back :(

Oh great, now they also lead the league. What the funk? How did that happen?

It seems to be a stupid design decision. We just got hope that they change it in the future so that the last leader will stay as the leader.

I don't really care about being a leader, it's just that they usurped my damn throne with some obscure modifier that gives them tons of voting preference, and they gained it out of no reason, for no merit. That really upset me to be honest :(

So how exactly did they become the leader? How is it calculated?

It seems to be "first come first served", but since AI gets to act before the player I feel that it's abit broken.
Or maybe the electors pick the next emperor right after the dominant religioin changes and the current emperor becomes the league head. But since you can't know in anyway that who they'll favor after the League War the player is kinda boned.
I saw one LP where East Frisia became the Emperor after a league war. Yes a OPM who wasn't even in the HRE nor fought in the League war became the emperor.

How soon is the league thing going to be removed then? Will I have to keep being just a mere elector while being the most powerful and influental diplomacy-wise member of the HRE simply because of the broken mechanic? :(

Was Brandenburg Catholic or Protestant? The League Supporter thing means they will pretty much only support someone in the same league as them, but if you and Brandenburg were both in the Protestant League then something fishy is going on.

Yes, of course we were both Protestant. For some reason only Brandenburg gets the modifier. I can send the save once I'm back home to verify.

He got the modifier because he became the Emperor due to the fact that the other electors had more reasons to support him than you.

Uh, this league supporter thing is the only factor they got elected.
