I am a bit confused about this...

I have been elected the Federation head, probably... because I am totally awesome.

May also be because I have a 5,000 naval capcaity and a ridiculously overpowered/overcompensating fleet (I was just preparing for an Unbidden crisis, did a cheeky reload to 3 years prior as my fleets were wrongly configured, and then I get a War in Heaven instead... ffs!!!)

But here is the thing... The wiki says that a maximum fleet size for a federation is 600, at a 30% fleet contribution... That is like 1500 of my fleet cpacity (which is already full) Thats a 188 Battleships, or 6 fleets. Not sure what being 30% over my capacity might cost me in penalties... In fact it will be 43% over capacity.

Am I mising something, or does this sound like a really bad deal? Or is the 600 a cap on your own contribution?

Cheers!

The federation max fleet size is 600 regardless of whether you would have contributed more or not. Note if you drop the fleet contribution law, you contribute less but the federation fleet size drops to 400/200. So at your size, I think it's a bad deal.

At sub-1000 naval capacities, the shared extra fleet (along with contribution perks) may make it a better deal, so long as the federation fleet is under your control because then your allies will spend their alloys building ships you can use. (Of course, they'll also build a bunch of corvettes and weaker ships, but it's their alloys and not yours, leaving you free to raise your own fleets.)

So, does the 600 mean I can build 600, or its 600 across the entire Federation?

Is it a case is first come first served? If they queue up 600 corvettes, then I wont be able to add Battleships?

I suppose the GDF is supposed to be the most powerful force with 800 cap, but it is a shame the Fed fleet is so expensive. Seems the whole point of the League is to unify the fleets against the Fallen Empires, makes it counter productive if it actually reduces your fleet capacity.

I just thought the league might vote it through without me. The unbidden have just popped up too. 4 way rumble. Have to split my fleet to contain the FAs, bring their allies under my control, and contain the crisis. An extra fleet would have been nice to sort out the civs who thought that kissing FA arse was a valid strategy. I could have named it my "re-education fleet"... on the road, bringing "knowledge" from system to system (greetings foul xenos... this is what we call a "xenomorph"... we come in peace).

600 across the entire federation. It is first-come-first-served, though I believe if you are the federation president you can split off the corvettes you don't want and disband them, making room for battleships.

Note that War in Heaven is not considered a 'crisis' so doesn't preclude Unbidden or other crisis appearing.
