if richard johnson dies, britain will awake a giant. but when armitage delivers his next speech, he will arouse the MONSTER! (and if you really want a speech for this event, your getting it this weekend. track and field is killing me lol)

Like I said before, if you want to make speeches, have fun!:D

After a whole day spent working on learning Victoria, I think I finally succeeded. Aside from playing USA and losing the Civil War and getting puppeted by the UK, I did really well.

Tomorrow is for LMCP and AoD practice. I'll provide a flashback update in a bit.

FLASHBACK: December, 1942

John Arya Armitage leaned towards the microphone on the table. The senator - President! He corrected himself, not for the first time - was about to show the nation his determination to face down the League.

After a moment, the man sitting behind the glass partition in front of the new president gave a thumbs-up - Armitage was now on air. Taking a deep breath, he began to speak:

My fellow Americans. We have been attacked. We have been mauled. We have been destroyed. We have been crushed. But still we hold on by that thread. The thread the Central Powers held. The thread the Spanish held. The thread the British held denying us independance. The thread the French held by in the Hundred Years War. The thread Europe held by when Mongol invasion was imminent. The thread held by the Romans. The thread held by the Greeks. The same thread held by all the peoples before us. Now it is our turn to bear this burden, to hold on, and restore hope to this war torn planet!

The United Kingdom is once again at odds with us. They have abandoned the ties they had with us, when we saved their collective asses 25 years ago. This is their thanks. Its time we said "your welcome".

Japan has struck us with our hands tied behind our back. Yet our brave men still hold. In Guam, Wake, and my homestate Hawaii our brave soldiers have valiantly pushed the Japs into the sea! They have been taught humility on land! In the air! In the sea! No matter how many vessels we lose, no matter how many planes we lose, no matter how many men die, we will win! They lose 10 men for every man we lose! We shoot down 10 planes for every one that they even damage!

Germany. How can we strike them? The League that these Japs and Tommies have formed is blocking us! How can we strike at a power that we cant reach? We have short arms. They must grow.

Yet we have scored victories. In the Atlantic the Royal Navy has suffered a catastropic defeat. Their fleet has been dealt a blow. And we must capitilize on this. This is the first chance we have had, to mount a crushing offensive. The base of Newfoundland has been taken. Bermuda is under assault as we speak. The Caribbean is ours. The Atlantic is a battle we must not lose. These very shores that you live next to are in grave danger. For every victory we have scored the British still have dominance over the Atlantic. Eventually we must go on the offensive. This country shall not be defeated!

We have beat these Tommies both times we have fought them in history. Both times, there has been one reason that we beat that foe that outnumbered and outgunned us. The reason is: WE. ARE. AMERICANS!!!

We have never lost a war. Even when the odds mounted against us, courage prevailed. Even when faced with defeat, freedom prevailed. When attacked, we retaliate. And when we retaliate we win! Yet the previous administration refused to retaliate. They sent our fleets to their deaths against the Japs. They lost the Pacific to the British. They didnt even attempt to assault the Nazis in Germany.

Will we change that? That is up to the people! What have you elected me to do? Am I to seek a peace with our enemies? Am I to send our brave men to their deaths? Am I going to let the mainland be invaded? Even as we speak, the same bastards that shocked us at Pearl Harbor are planning something bigger. They rule Asia. Now they come for the Pacific. We are in their way. Will we step aside? NO! They are one step away from invading the Americas themselves. We must act!

Today we embark upon an adventure. Today we set forth on a quest. Yesterday we were losing. Tomorrow we will be winning. Next week our enemies shall be in ruins. Their carriers will be at the bottom of the sea. Their men will be in graves. The planes will be our scrap metal. Today we set forth to accomplish that. Today, is the final day of infamy. Today is the turning of the tide. Our ships are poised to make a last desparate strike at Japan the same way she attacked us last year. In less than 24 hours, Tokyo will be a ruin. No, it will be something else too. It will be OURS!

WE ARE THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA! WE ARE THE LAST HOPE OF VICTORY! SO LETS GO SHOW THEM JAPS AND TOMMIES EXACTLY WHY WE ARE STILL FREE IN THIS HOSTILE WORLD!

Armitage leaned back as the radio announcer took over:
"Well, folks, that was the President of the United States. He talks big, doesn't he? Well, we up here are behind him every step of the way. As you may know, my son is with the Navy, on the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt. Now the enemy has made some gains recently, but Venezuela has joined our alliance and . . . ."

Armitage tuned him out as he turned to face Richard D. Johnson.
"Too much?" the president asked his friend.
"No." Johnson said, smiling darkly. "If anything, not enough. Haulsee will not be cowed by a few bold words. We know him. That madman will stop at nothing. I read some of Hoover's old reports on Chamberlain's death recently. The late PM died of asphyxia - during a meeting with Haulsee. And there were no marks of strangulation."
"Poison?"
"I believe so. Watch your back, John."
Watch my back? Armitage thought. Strange advice considering the world these days.

Hello, my friends:

I have tried to convert LMCP to Arsenal of Democracy, but I have a problem: AoD will accept all of my flies EXCEPT the save game.

Is there a program I have to run it through or something?

"John!"
John Arya Armitage groaned feebly. The voice returned:
"JOHN!"
Armitage's eyes flew open. He at first saw just the sky above him, but then the faces of Richard Johnson and Dwight Eisenhower waved into focus. The president wondered why they looked so concerned. Armitage tried to sit up and talk to them, but as soon as he moved a spear of agony shot through his body.
"Thank God you woke up." Richard said shakily.
"What?" Armitage asked. Eisenhower had turned around.
"MEDIC!" he yelled.
"Medic? I'm fine." Armitage said.
"The hell you are, John!" Richard snapped. "Look at yourself!"
Armitage did. He wished he hadn't. His left arm rested at an unnatural angle and blood coated his clothes. Eisenhower stood up and demanded:
"WHERE THE HELL IS THAT MEDIC?" before sprinting off.
"Richard . . . what happened?" Armitage demanded shakily.
"You don't remember? We were leaving Seattle with Ike when the car hit a tire trap. That grenade flew right under it. The Secret Service is hunting the bastards who shot at us even now. I don't think there's any doubt it was the League."
Armitage still didn't remember. But flashes of a speech were already appearing in his mind. Something like You thought you could kill me, Haulsee? I am beyond your pathetic reach. Obviously, it needed work. But Armitage had been giving speeches since he was fourteen years old. It would come.
Then the President of the United States slipped away into unconsciousness.

The League began to make use of the "KaiserMuffin Institute for Technical Excellence" that had set up in Scotland, awarding them a contract for tank design work.

Lord Haulsee then authorized "Operation Night Hammer": the invasion of Venezuela, and moved naval units to facilitate the operation.

but not well enough. Why Curacao though? Armitage must have thought the LMCP brass was planning Night Hammer from there.

can you see about modding canadas nuclear capabilities? that would make it a 2 on one nuclear showdown but you would still have the upper hand due to canadas small size and ic, and you lead america in the nuke techs

EDIT: out of curiousity why seattle?

I pulled Seattle out of a hat, actually. I could just as easily said New York, Chicago or Los Angeles or . . . well, any USA VP city.:D

The USN Pacific continued its efforts to hammer through to Hawaii, to no avail. Halsey slammed head-on in Ozawa's gunfleet and retreated quickly, preserving both of his battleships. I made plans at that point to move more fighting naval units to the Pacific. Preferably carriers to support Yamamoto, but battleships were proving capable enough.
tocolumbia.png

The League's forces in Venezuela began to push into Columbia, driving for the Panama Canal. The Columbiam Army was incapable of providing significant resistance to General Gort and his army.
patton.png

Then US General George S. Patton Jr. oversaw the landing of 100,000 soldiers from the US mainland into Cumana, Venezuela. League troops quickly counterattacked, but US reinforcements kept pouring in. High Command ordered a halt to the attacks in order to preserve organization and morale.
screensave49i.png

By September, Patton had been joined by General Wedemayer, and a total of 640,000 American soldiers sat in Cumana. The League would not be able to oust the Americans. Combining the Niihau and Cumana pockets, over a million US soldiers were waiting to sting the LMCP in the back.
At this point the League signed a cease-fire with Columbia in order to set its rear in order. President Armitage famously commented on the Columbians:
"Those goddamn stinking backstabbing cowardly . . . ." the rest is censored from print.

In Britain, the Admiralty authorized a few bottles of whiskey to be passed around in a high-level meeting, for the first twenty of the new Malta-class carriers were completed. Fifteen were assigned to Admiral Chuichi Nagumo, who placed his flag on the HMS Britannia, while to remaining five were given to Admiral John Tovey, who was transferred quickly to the Pacific.

The League launched a massive offensive into Guinea on September 8th. The French-Canadian-American defenses held firm for a few days, then crumbled. The League's High Command ordered the LMCP commanders in the field to press the Allies at every opportunity and not give them time to reorganize.

General Douglas MacArthur attempted to break out of the Cumana pocket by driving inland. After a fierce two-week battle he was repulsed when League reinforcements arrived to stiffen General Nomura's Marines.

The Kaisermuffin institute, having proven its reliability through the Churchill tanks series, was contracted to design a new armored model, codenamed "Centurion".

Another US landing at Pearl Harbor was repulsed, with shockingly low casualties for the League. The fortifications on the Hawaiian Islands have proven their merit.

Two US carriers off Bermuda run into Nagumo. Neither the Lexington or the Oriskany is sunk, but both are badly damaged and only the obsolete light cruiser Gloucester takes noticible damage on the League side. Admiral Sommervile and his battleships take up station preventing reinforcement and supply for Patton and MacArthur. Admiral Koga takes his seven damaged carriers back to Plymouth for repairs. Tovey arrives in Pearl and takes his carriers out to hunt US convoys supplying Niihau.

Disclaimer - I know the Patton picture says Caracas, it was the only one I had of his landings.

Initially I had Nagumo and about 10 carriers. He got SLAMMED in Bocas del Dragon and we went in without naval support for quite some time. Now Sommerville and his 5 BBs are blockading Cumana and Nagumo's 15 CV's are carrier-hunting. I might hit Norfolk again . . . oops, shouldn't have said that:D
