The African Front ended with a bang as 110,000 Allied soldiers did their level best to outfight the League's army. Alas for them, only fools think they can do such a thing.
In Hawaii, the USMC attempted to seize the Big Island. Mountbatten's Royal Marines used the newly-built fortifications on the island to good effect and saw off the attack.
The first of the new Carrier Battle Groups was completed in summer of '44.
But the USN brought its battleships southwest and hit Ozawa's cruiser fleet off Niihau, with devastating results.
The CVA-01 class aircraft carriers were finally ready for construction.
It was done. Three solid years of war ravaging Africa finally ended when the League finished off the African Forces.
Then the NEW League CVBG got its a** handed to it. <sigh> Back to square one . . . .

Chester Nimitz stared out of the War Department window at DC. At 8:00 AM, the city was already bustling. No war could change that. December of 1944 was bitter cold, forcing many to stay indoors. Nimitz himself was taking pleasure in the heat of the War Department, perhaps more pleasure then he ought to have. Many of the people in DC were forced to walk from their houses to their work in the winter snow. The people of America were suffering in the US's campaign to defeat Lord Haulsee's League. Already murmurs were growing of Socialist leanings in the US populace. President Armitage had recently launched a massive draft providing almost 5 million new soldiers for the military. America didn't believe in this war any more.
Why? It simply wasn't being fought on their turf. Sure, Guam, Samoa, Midway, they were US possessions, but that wasn't the same to many people. Even the invasion of Hawaii - most still thought of the state as a territory. As it was, the war hadn't touched anywhere the average American cared about. They were told that losing Africa was a tragedy, but they didn't know why. They hadn't felt the sting of bombs landing on their capital, or of foreign troops marching through their hometowns. They didn't know war. Nimitz had served in WW1. He knew what war felt like. He had done his best to keep the League out of Hawaii.
It hadn't been enough.
He had know that the Tommies and the Japs would be in Pearl as soon as Midway fell. He had barely gotten out in time. He still had no idea how Eisenhower had escaped.
An air-raid siren went off in the city. Nimitz looked up. He saw the Avro Lancaster bomber making for the White House. He wondered where its fellow were. The de Havilland Venom escort fighters were peeling away from the bomber. The logic escaped Nimitz. He shrugged. He was no pilot.
He walked over to his desk and picked up the folder he had been looking at. it was labeled Operation Overlord. It entailed an assault from Newfoundland against German Iceland and then launching into Scotland. After tearing Britain apart, the US Army would surge across the English Channel and attack Normandy to bring an end to Hitler's menace. Until recently, the plan had been impossible due to LMCP naval supremacy. Roosevelt had pulled the plug on it for that reason. But FDR was dead. Nimitz and Marshall hadn't brought the plan to Armitage's attention yet, but maybe it was time. After all, after two years, countless defeats and the oodles of government money Nimitz had spent, the USN ruled the ocean. Maybe Overlord could occur after all . . . .
Then the world changed. After that one moment, nothing would be the same ever again. Nimitz would never know that, of course. He was dead in an instant from the flash of nuclear fire.

I'll sleep a few ministers like Nimitz, but most will survive for gameplay reasons.
