Say you were to genemod half your pops to have "venerable" trait - will new leaders be generated about 50/50 from "slime-bozos" without the extra lifespan and from "post-slime-bozos" with it? Will currently existing leaders be unaffected by the project? What about if you say goodbye to your society research FOREVER and mod all the pops: will this leave current leaders unaffected and give all newly generated ones lovely long slimy lives?

Cheers!

I suspect every current leader is unaffected by the change, but after the project is done, venerable slimes should start to be available for hire! :D
I'm not 100% sure, but I know if you implement Capacity Boosters (more stars and more life-span), those pre-Capacity Boosters leaders are still available for hire, and you must wait a bit to cycle it out.

Even if Xeno Integration is turned off, your modded subspecies is still eligible, and, yes, I'm sure the odds of getting a leader are in proportion, so if it's 40 of one and 60 of another it's 40:60 chances! After recruiting them, you can actually see their life expectancy and chance to die when mousing over their age, in the Leaders screen!

Neat-o. Thanks, that makes a lot of sense!

Overall what Diezy says sounds right. However species tracking and leadership have always had issues.

One thing of notice: A hereditary Government will keep producing heirs in thier own (sub)species. As long as there is at least some pops of that species left in the empire.
I thought about making a dedicated ruler species (Charmismatic, Short lived, Non-Adaptable). Only to then use other pops for the normal leaders.
