The fact CAN, AST & BEL went ahistorical is not related to any text used...It's just random percentages...

If there are three event options, the chance for action_a is 85/95 (89.4%), the two others are 5/95 each (5.3%)

If there are four event options, the chance for action_a is 85/100 (85%), all the others are 5/100 each (5%)

Hi
look i can see you guys are really getting into this election program and have probable dont have much time to answer my questions but i hope you will get round to them i have about 4 to ask but i will do them in separate posts, first of all birch if you recall we were discussing about the random factor for the elections some posts back, you sent me a reply which also mention how you were tinkering with the idea of having elections for the big 3 non democratic countries ( Germany, Italy and Russia ) my reply to that idea was it could mess up the major faction alliances but i have been thinking and on reflection it could be a possibility, now they way i see it working is that say for Germany for instance to have elections is for a human player as( France or Great Briton ) to defeat Germany and Puppet the country this would install a democratic government and elections could then happen, of course in game terms realistically the allies could not defeat Germany before 1944 unless the human player pulls off a minor miracle and coups them or does defeat them earlier than 1944 ( unlikely) so if Germany does get defeated 1944 you would be looking at a 1945 election and then possible a 1947 one too but again the problem would arrise from a freak of nature some human player does the impossible so you indeed have to have a full election program that starts in 1936 and goes all the way up to 1947 you could not start your election program from 1945 or later but it could work as long as the Germans switch government and as most people no the AI will simple defeat Germany then Annex it so it wont do any Puppeting i have never seen any AI Puppet another country in any of the games i have played, it would have to by a human player that the election program for Germany and the others come into play, and if Germany is not defeated then there will be no elections the game could continue as normal, well thats my idea of course i think there have to be some debate or poll by the members for such a major change.
Regards TM1

Well I haven't made a "draw" on Germany yet,but I have seen enough by now regarding the other elections that if AI choose a non-historical path it doesn't have any influence on the alliances, these elections are ONLY made for the human player so he can take whatever route he wants,But since I also intend to use them for right historical route,I will simply kill Hitler in an april 45 election.I haven't really decided if his successor as HOS should be Göring or Dönitz and since this will only apply to the NS government it will mean no game change as such.Germany is a little special as a case there are actually someplayers out there who do NOT want to play a NS Germany they should have the PA option probably with Willy as a reinstated Emperor and a von Papen as HOG..that was more or less what he seems to have promised Hindenburg....:)But I haven't really thought that one through all elements

You are right AI never puppets and thus again these elections are mainly for the use of a human player, although I have played a little with seeing if the alignment has any purpose...it seems sort of divided on that.Puppet Nations do not hold elections btw.....but they will if we introduce them too it....:)

In short puppeting is only for the human player.

ok now apart from Spain having its nice little war with itself and the coup in Yugoslavia from joining the Axis has any one had any other country go to civil war in a game and also is there alternate flags for all countries in the game for just such a occasion, because i have played many a game and the country i have played has had the dissent factor sometimes over 80% and i could not get even a coup let alone a civil war, this might not have been the right place to write this post but since the is work on the election program i thought i would ask it here im curious to no if any was lucky enough to enjoy such a treat during there game.
Regards TM1

Hi
birch this is my last question again this might not be the write place to send it but you may be able to answer me because of your work here or if some other game designer might be able to, as you no there are Quite few countries in the game that are not exactly excitment plus when it comes to deciding the fate of the world for instance Liberia,Oman,Yemen,Tibet, Ethiopia etc etc but they have there place of course, now Ethiopia in game terms is probale expected to last now longer than till the end of 1936 if Italy does its job properly as with Albania in 1938 so i decided to play Ethiopia just to see how i would fare and after holding the Italians at bay till March i sued for peace and settled so now there is no war with Italy, its now 1938 and im building up my IC in the 2 provinces that can build my questions are and i hope you can answer me, does the AI game files account for Ethiopia being not at war for the entire campaign, none of the major powers seem interested in any kind of diplomatic influencing also as you no there are number of events " major workers strike", " grand military parade","ban the Fascists party" and so on, now as a general rule you might be lucky enough to get one such event playing a minor country in Europe but do you no if the game designers accounted for these other countries (above mentioned) specially for ones that are not suppose to last more than 6 months game terms if not can there be some time in the future down the track that these countries AI is looked into, even i get bored of playing the major powers and Neutral European countries i would not mind playing Saudia Arabia and having some fun, ok well thats it a will leave you guys in peace for a while so for the designers doing a great job on this great game and to everyone else in the forum have a great xmas
Regards TM1

and a merry Christmas to you too...:) well I haven't designed the game--LOL but I have noticed that you can easily survive as a human player even when playing Ethiopia,Czechoslovakia,Albania etc.if you more or less take the right options.Ethiopia is not meant to survive, neither is Rep Spain nor Albania Austria or the 3 Baltics.but they can do with ease if played by a human..and if played by a human it should get its share of the miscellanous events. The Election scheme adds even more flavour to play the minors.

But where I think you might go a little wrong as does other players is that this is NOT EU2..so it is not about being BIGGEST etc. it is about your alliance will win the game, that means that if you for instance play Ethiopia then join the Allieds when the war breaks out and take the surrounding Italian colonies....can be done with ease. And the send troops to fight whereever the Allieds are so YOUR alliance will win.

Since we also add a lot of historical correct claims to almost all nations besides those they have this adds even more flavour to playing a minor. For instance I'm testing Bolivia now and now they got their Chilean province without having to go through all the trouble of getting into war with Chile, and now they have a port and can participate for real in the BIG one,(well I choose the Pacifia aera for them this time....lots of fun.

There are to my knowledge only one country which is never meant to stay alive and that is Poland, but even that can be done with a little "cheat".See Poland has a strong army so built transports and take out say Venezuela before WW2 and then even Poland can survive to fight the "mean NS"...:)

Well, this is the best biography I've found of Domville so far:

Admiral Sir Barry Edward Domvile, KBE CB CMG, (1878-1971).

Domvile fought in World War I. He became director of the Department of Naval Intelligence from 1927 to 1930, and President of the Royal Naval College from 1932 to 1934.

Domvile was a council member of the Anglo-German Fellowship, and founded the Anglo-German organisation The Link. Domvile visited Germany on various occasions. In 1936 and 1937 he attended the Nuremberg Rallies as a guest of the German Ambassador Joachim von Ribbentrop.

Due to his pro-Nazi views, Domvile was interned during World War II. He was also anti-semitic.

Shouldn't be impossible to find a picture of someone with such a distinguished record. Perhaps WW1 is the best shot. Tipperary was a destroyer sunk at Jutland. Centaur was a light cruiser.

With all those links I will find him....rest assured of that.....) Thinking a bit was there someone Special who died at his time in the Medit,he could easily be at one of the (Several) funeral pics which seems to swarm the web and which actually has proved very helpful.

and I did find Monti too..or someone who the experts belives is Monti with 90% certainty..and ofcourse in 3RF..where else to go when it comes to someone like him....he was very low ranking though, didn't even really got a punishment after the war,in contrast to Haw-Haw who was executed but again the US was pretty lenient...:)

Useful info,,and I saw after playing a little longer that it has no effect at all on the game,so as expected these elections are solely for the human player and that's nice....:) and then it will have effects...made a little test with Belgium and went NS early,Germany did not even think of attacking Belgium....:)...poor Luxembourg....:)

Edit: He is in the Ministers file (ID 20038), but not in the Leaders one I have (latest pack)

Although he was officer of Army of Kingdom of Yugoslavia, there is no evidence him reaching anything higher then colonel, his carrier got lighting success once he joined Tito's partisans and was named chief of General staff with rank of staff colonel he probably had in Army of Kingdom of Yugoslavia.

On interesting side note it seems he was a teacher at the Military academy for some time and was translating Wehrmacht field manuals - so either he did really bad job of translation or he deliberately sabotage it by communist orders so Yugoslav army lose April war.

LOL...Yes I'm still trying to collect whatever I can find on Yugoslavia and Croatia (the two really dark spots)and I have kind of thought that I would need´to reduce the file in size and use "promoted" officers in some cases, just to able to make something oit of that file.

I would like some too... ;)

Here are some old in case someone didn't rip them off yet and added few new ones (although mostly ministers) from my yet to be finished mod update... :(

http://www.vojska.net/games/hoi/pictures.asp

Took them just in case I didn't had them...thanks...:) I see you don't have Rogulja and some more Croatian/Yugoslavian generals we found on www.cega.com (I think that was the name)It was one of those hidden databases I found with some luck.I haven't made them yet (the pics that is) because I'm still hoping to be able to do it one clean sweep

I GOT HIM-Frodon

Yep I got him...our adm Domvile...on a not so good reproduction of a painting but at least he is in full uniform...:) Pic dated 1922...will have to do with that.
Have taken almost 12 hours to find that idiot.

And now I have finished finding US commies/fasc and UK dittos and as always onename leads to another and suddenly they all swarms in....very much the tactic used by McCarthy

US fasc:when I finally broke down Lemke aka William Lemke I simply hit a goldmine in right wing US incl this guy who actually has been transferred to the left Floyd Bjerstjerne Olson very succesfull politician (governor) and usually aligned with right wing like Lemke but he was so antiracistic that we simply cannot include him in fasc file with the people he had lawsuits against...it was his economy which was right wing not his social views. No wonder the poor man couldn't really find his feet.He was the son of a Norwegian father and a Swedish!!!!! mother  Died 11/36 so he makes it just

US komm:but Ware won't make the cut died 5/35 finding his story opened up another can of worms...:)

UK Left:I now have so many I could fill 3 csv alone....:) very interresting stories.

However if you kind of feel like it could you go searching for French left German Left and Italian left. And on the right side there's really not many missing because I have a ton of LC/PA German politicians who could have joined into a LC/PA german option(I actually do have quite a few Italian left too but would like a broader expansion)

Domvile again

I actually have two pics I think besides the admiral one I have one of extremely lousy quality from a book front cover written by his daughter Julie Domvile..but quite frankly I think it looks more like Mosley so I will stick with the painting.

Btw Birch... Just so you know, I don't want elections in the German file or the Italian file, nor the USSR one. They are substantial, I wouldn't want to risk a new game where Germany suddenly went left wing.

Nope and that won't happen either...:) cause what I'm thinking of is making a march election 36 in Germany so the player who don't want to have NS can go PA instead(there are those) and then just only the vital gov changes (april 45) etc.

italy well actually we should implement overthrow of Mussolini and since Badoglio will bePA then it won't matter much but this is a file we might have to discuss further

We won't have elections in USSR I think,There is no need for them, and when we have made Russia instead people can use that one

and to a different subject.I remembered wrong about Costa Rica although I will have to find some politicians lost because we have the wrong starter gov.Else it was fairly democratic all the way and actually declared war on germany before US it seems. We will move the vital revolucion one year ahead and we can do that because Michalski left office before time..that is what in the end caused the revolution btw(Calderón refusing to acknowledge his election defeat)fairly easy file, the most interresting here will be the claims I guess....:)

and finally I will however first make sure that all the alignments are correct incl the starting ones,so the next you'll get will be a package with some revised INC(perhaps) and slightly revised elections (alignment)

Croatia has more leaders then it can form divisions.

I have still to add some personality to most of them but unfortunately we have only old guard trait to show some sort of incompetence's.

Btw, for Germany and Italy and so on... We could use the trigger AI = no so they only trigger for players and players can choose the way they go, the AI will always stick to historical.
