Will see if I can find some french and british, but don't expect much. I'm afraid I have already exhausted the meagre sources concerning these countries. Guess we will have to enlist some Frenchmen to help us with those files...

This is certainly a trait no Swedes possess or ever will....:D

I actually have a French help (although it is the same..summer 1940 did not happen Vichy did not exist etc..He has sent me some 512 French which will be used (they are harmless anyway) But of more importance he has identified each and every unknown French gen/adm I had a pic of...although it takes forever when it comes to a Vichy....:D

In the end it seems we will have to reduce the French file a bit although I do have quite a few pics....seems the same will apply to the British army file (but that can easily take that)One of the reasons I'm holding back on the French is that I will have to rewrite the whole sleep leader file.

The good news however is that I think I'm only lacking 5 or 6 pics in the US file now..and they can easily be dropped.

One of the reasons for the lack of French is the French Law but I think we have mentioned that.

No we did not have those pics..we have now....but Frodon do you know what???...I LOVE YOU....you have just made an enormous breakthrough in France from that site alone I collected 65 (SIXTY-FIVE) pics of FF france officers, naval, air army, and politicians...THIS was a GOLD GOLD GOLD Site...just the same type as Pallas has been lately..only minus they were all FF and yes we need to do a few promotions,,but that was GOLD. I now have 136 pics waiting in my French file(yes there are a good deal of politicians too..but this was a jewel.

and I'll bet you didn't even knew what that site contained...:)

Well, knew it was a site about the FFI/Maquis, and that it included the names of officers in the resistance and/or free french forces. But couldn't find any pictures except of Verneau & Brisac...

BTW: Have you seen this list of french generals in 1938?

http://web.genealogie.free.fr/Les_militaires/France/Annuaires_militaires/Annuaire_militaire_1938.htm

Might include someone we have forgotten (or who retired before the war broke out) Looks like Castelnau was still on the active list. He was 89 in 1939 :D And Franchet d'Esperey wasn't much younger...

Also air leaders from 1939

http://web.genealogie.free.fr/Les_militaires/France/Annuaires_aeriens/Annuaire_aerien_1939.htm

(and 1940, 1941, 1942 & 1945)

And naval leaders:

Some norwegian comments

Took a quick look at the current norwegian file. I assume the guy in the german helmet is Major Jørgen Bakke from the SS Norwegian Legion. I think he should be removed from the file. IIRC he was never more than a captain in the regular norwegian army.

Also the picture of Riiser-Larsen looks a bit odd. Seems like his hat is "transparent"

Also Fleischer is still "Defensive doctrine" He should definitely be "offensive doctrine" combined with "winter specialist" Don't think the man knew what defense was...

Also think Steffens & Hatledal deserves skill 2. They were probably the best generals in the army after Fleischer & Ruge.

You should knock down Hansteen to 1, to reflect that he was a very junior officer in 1940 (and even more junior in 1936)

De verdillac

I play 1,05 and have added nothing to the game. After installing a Vichy regime, De Verdillac can hold two commands. Another strange feature, also, I can choose De Gaulle as a Vichy commander.

And yes, it just came to my mind. I removed the Sleep leader-command who was blamed for creating the 13.des.41-holdup. Wasn’t that something related with the Vichy-event?

Yes as said it was pure GOLD..guess this is one of the benefits from speaking the language...:) on each of the subsites(directories)it swarmed with pics and stories...one of them had an almost complete pic site of the major victims in the Liberation of France and/or the main players so to speak.

I am familiar with those sites..they do however have one fault as you might have seen. The list the list of the French army etc. not necessarily the active ones as gen.dk has. for instance as I recall Voisin is still listed in air ....:) but they are very fine as a support especially when it comes to the for us (and generals dk) totally unknown naval and air.....and gold from your site yesterday btw. Schlumberger....:) I didn't thought there even existed a pic of him. (very shy man as he became head of Deuxiemé Bureau)

and more gold (I'm working on the Spanish files now..and just got hold of an pic from 1942 of adm.Carrero Blanco (Nat.Navy)he was in fact a commodore at that time.(bit suprised about that)

Bakke will go to NS replacements ministers..I have a devious plan for the Norwegian elections..but that is for later.

Fleischer and the rest done as said...agree btw-Fleischer is my fault I thought I had corrected him, but apparently I'm not able to multiply 8 and 4....:D

The Riiser-Larsen pic 1 (the navy one) yes but you see he is wearing a black cap with gold on the shadow and he is placed against a black background so it will look odd...I can of course draw a new cap for him and then lighten the background..(if I can find the original pic)I had to do that with some of the old Portuguese because their use of coal pics made them almost invisible in HOI....:)

a little special assignment.....pic of Corap...yes/no..:)

Yuje that is a great propaganda..BUT unfortunately we have gotten such a very funny Manchukuo propaganda in the meantime.which I will use instead.but this is of such quality that i should not go to waste..so I have looked at it and since it has writing in both kyrillian and Chinese I suggest we use this in Mongolia instead...notice also the use of the original svastika..again something which could be used in Mongolia...how about that?

Thoughts

Since we all have travelled the web finding well over 6000 pics by now,it has struck me.

1)If Victoria has the same pic thingy applied,we will have NO difficulty at all in finding those....(with extensions...:D

2)If EU2 had had the same feature for their leaders too we would have had pics(paintings of them all too...) (some Asian nations however unlikely...:)

Carrero Blanco? Was that the prime minister who was murdered in the seventies? Think he was chief of naval operations already during ww2. Guess one of the reasons was that most of the top admirals either sided with the republicans or was killed during the civil war, and therefore made room for the younger officers...

OK, let me know if you need more nazi's or commies. Came over a book with pictures of most of the commie central commitee.

The Riiser-Larsen pic 1 (the navy one) yes but you see he is wearing a black cap with gold on the shadow and he is placed against a black background so it will look odd...I can of course draw a new cap for him and then lighten the background..(if I can find the original pic)

Let me know if you need a new picture.

a little special assignment.....pic of Corap...yes/no..:)

I have searched for this guy for a week now without result. But will see what I can do...

BTW: Saw that you had added Jac von der Lippe to the Norwegian naval file. He did retire in 1934, but he lived on untill the early 50's so it isn't impossible that he could have been recalled during the war. But definitely one of the "old guard". He was in fact chief of the naval air force during ww1...

Checked up General Aavatsmark as well. He was born in 1864 and also retired in 1934. But he also lived on untill 1947 so I suggest we keep him on the active list. Norway needs some experienced generals :p

They do not have to be generals..colonels will do nice....:)

and this might sound odd...but 2 pics of lower ranking white Russian officers....(I have a plan)....:)

Maybe he means the White Russians (the ones fighting the Reds) from the Russian civil war? If so, I do have a picture of a Cossack general K.V. Kislitsin who later fled to Harbin and cooperated with the government of Manchukuo.

The writing on the right is actually Japanese, so I don't think it's appropriate for Mongolia. I can read some Chinese characters. The first character means 'bright' and #3-4 mean 'eastern place' or simply 'the east', but the rest are Japanese-only characters and I have no idea what they mean.

Also, only Inner Mongolia (in China) uses the traditional Mongolian script. Because of Soviet influence (pressure), outer Mongolia until recently wrote their language in a Cyrillic script.

If you need a propaganda poster for Mongolia, why not use an actual Mongolian poster?
http://www.theorientalcaravan.com/images/Mongolia_postcard/Mongolian_massacre.htm

In the 1930's over 30,000 Mongolian Buddhist monks were massacred by the communists. This communist propaganda poster, now removed from public view, unashamedly records the act
