spanish files

Birch, I hope that with the pics I sent there will be enough land leaders for both the spanish factions (about 60 possible leaders for each, not as many as some axis minors, but I hope it's Ok). Now we are short of air and sea leaders, right? Well, can I use fighter ace pilots as air leaders?

By the way, I know I've blamed you about for using killed people in the files, but I understand that we need a playable file with enough leaders. (Actually, if you remove the KIA, the nationalist air files loses Morato and Ramón Franco, and is left with only three air leaders). The exception is Sanjurjo, I still think it should be him or Franco.

What version are you playing and where do you see this? France and Vichy France have him but he is removed from France when Vichy is created (as are many others).

Yes I think there are land leaders enough for a good game...although it will be way after Portugal now....:D It is OK..actually in some files there are too many leaders...but they have pics...:)

as for the navy and air as I wrote you i have been able to find some airpics from both sides and some navy pics too...and we have used lower rankings pilots in so many of the minor nations so why not Spain too...:)

I think it will be great files

I think I will await that decision till I actually see how big the files gets.I have also found Rudolf von Moreau and although he came from germany he stayed in Spain.

It is still my intention to remove the dead and mercenaries from both files after annexation in both political and military ways, but then on the other hand you could say that almost all the files carries dead with them in the whole period as the game itself does not take that into account.

info on some leaders

Hi
first i like to say that you guys are doing a great job its always good to see face to the name of a leader your using, just upgraded to 1.05 patch and noticed you have a Austrian admiral he will come in handy when i annex Yugoslavia.

A couple of things also i would like to mention after looking through the game leaders of some of the countries about there special skills:
1936 scenario German Rear Admiral Von Arnauld De la Periere should have a "sea wolf " tag he was in the top 5 u-boat comanders in the first world war, 194 ships sunk/454000 tons, worthy of the skill.
1956 scenario Polish Rear Admiral Unrug should also be given the "sea wolf " tag another u-boat ace who served in the German Navy during the first world, i also believe went on to train future German naval u- boat comanders who served during the second world including Karl Donitz.
I also see that in all three scenarios that Romanian Rear Admiral I. Georgescu is not present he went on to be Chief Of Naval Staff in 1944.

Another thing i would like to mention is the the skill and rating of American Admiral king the game has him as a " superior tactician", i watched a national geographic show some time back about Opertion Drumbeat the German u-boat offensive on the US Atlantic coast from december 41 to june 42, it spoke about the operation and the leaders involved, the Germans called this this "The Happy Hunting Time ' as the US Atlantic Fleet under King seemed unwilling to do any thing to stop them the British were constantly giving information to the Admiral via there capture enigma machine they had, the Admiral was anti British but more importantly he was anti Royal Navy anything they offered in advice or information was basically ignored which included the setting up of the coastal convoy system and anti submarines sweeps by aircraft and destroyers, the only times these were used were to escort British convoys to iceland while the US fleets merchant arm was almost wiped out because he refused to allow the fleet to leave there ports and protect the merchant ships the air force flew anti sub sweeps only on certain days, one historian on this show went as far as to say that this was the US navies greatest defeat a bigger disaster than Pearl harbour, in 6 months 400 ships were sunk, it was not until the the supply situation was on the verge of collapse that the convoy system was put into operation and more planes and destroyers put into action, now i dont know how the rest of his career went but i do know he went on to comand the US 10th fleet which was just a fleet in name with no ships it was a logistics and administrative post in South America, must have been his reward for all the good work during the drumbeat operation, now i may be harsh but i dont think he should have the " superior tactician " but thats just me, what i had in mind to since i brought up this long story was some sought of negative tag similar to the "old guard "tag for army Generals.

Arkwright = Hore Ruthven = Earl of Gowrie. Yep british nobility are real nice. But the Ruthven familiy have several scandinavian connections. They trace their familys decent from a certain "Thor" who settled in Scotland. And one of the Ruthvens served Gustavus Adolphus and was very useful because his ability "drink immeasurably and preserve his understanding to the last" - off course you can't find swedes with skills like that :D

Will see if I can find some french and british, but don't expect much. I'm afraid I have already exhausted the meagre sources concerning these countries. Guess we will have to enlist some Frenchmen to help us with those files...

If it's Admiral Ernest King you are talking he went on to become commander-in-chief of the entire US Fleet :D In fact he took over that job 1st January 1942, so the actual commander of the US Atlantic Fleet during operation drumbeat was Admiral Ingersoll (who held that command at least untill 1944)

He was described as a cold an argumentative personality, and as "meaner than hell". But also as a brilliant strategist who earned his five stars based on his skills alone and not friendship or politics.

Would be nice if "old guard" worked on admirals as well, but I don't think Ernest King deserves that tag...

Problem Solved..I hope

As you all know by now I have slowly begun to introduce the election-events or perhaps better multichoice for the player...so far I have stuck to Romania and it is working (another matter is that Vulture are trying to persuade Paradox to let elections happens no matter what type of gov. and not only LC/CE/RS,,but until that we have to continue with the "cheat"..i.e makinh at least one option democratic (RS/LC/CE) This reprresented a major problem for me (and Ivan)when it came to Nat.Spain which of course is Fascist....but then lightning stroke...

When Nat spain wins they get event Victory...this is used to sleep Richthofen etc.(i will add more there) BUT and this is the genialty (it will happen in either 36 or 37 (most likely 36) so I will sleep Ferrer as HOS and install Franco as LC!!!!! this will open up for elections in all the coming years, where we can choose between all the options until a non demo election is choosen. The first election will be between Franco LC and Franco FA/PA (probably the last),,if the last is choosen for historical reasons then no more elctions else we can have both Carlist options LC options CE options monarchist options you name it we have it........all I need to do is to sleep Ferrer in the Victory event and then it is a go (I think) ain't I a freaking genius.....LOL

PS:So far I have only had positive feedback concerning the Romanian elections...:)

Re: info on some leaders

Hi
first i like to say that you guys are doing a great job its always good to see face to the name of a leader your using, just upgraded to 1.05 patch and noticed you have a Austrian admiral he will come in handy when i annex Yugoslavia.

Thanks a lot it is always nice to have ones work appreciated....You should however conctantly download the picture pack expansion you can find on the main forum.....it will always contain the latest csv/ministers files and by now I thin well over 1400 more pics not in 1.05. or 1.05b(which you should download first)

However the reason i have not given Arnauld Sea Wolf is because of his early death, this is one of the ways we can handle a thing like that.I can't remember if Unrug hasn't got that trait I think so.(and btw there are now more Austrian admirals...for playablity reasons)(and Hungarian ones too...:) I think Georgescu is available now in the newest Romanian file)

No I will let King have his SP...as Frodon has pointed out he became CON.

as for the Old Guard trait...it will be applied to Navy and air now in the rewritten files, when we getto these....it is much needed in both air and navy (mostly navy)
