Leader modding

I added leaders into the Austrian leader file but they only show up if i start a new game, not on my saved ones.

Is there any way to fix this?

well, yes technically speaking. if u then put them in ur save file (which may take at least 10 minutes )

The only way is to type them into the saved game file itself.

How would I go about doing that?

Open the savefile with a text editor, locate the country in question (searching for "capital = <id>" is the easiest way) and add the leaders you want to the existing list using the self-explanatory syntax.
