I've not found anything in the manual or in a thread on Leader Loyalty (OK now someone is going to give me a page number :eek:o ). It seems to be in the leader files, but does anyone know what it does.

Cheers, Ice

This is strange, it is mentioned in the manual that promoting a general would make him more loyal. But what does that mean?!?

The manual was finished before the game. So there are some discrepancies. Remember the famous pdf-files? :)
I too believe the loyalty thing is a leftover from the planning stage, and without effect in the game.

allies under military control sometimes will disobey orders, does that have something to do with it?
No. It has nothing to do with loyalty. The problem exist because the allies still maintain control of their units instead of completely surrendering the command.

I believe that any mention of leader loyalty is a holdover from Victoria where it is used.

Loyalty, to the best of my knowledge, plays no role whatsoever in HOI.

In the HOI 1 manual leader loyalty was described as being a number affected by national dissent, and by a promotion for a specific leader. Low loyalty could result in leaders not arriving at the ordered time for a battle etc. I don't know if it was used.

In both HOI 1 and 2 dissent affects unit performance, but I've never tried to find out if a FM would fight with less performance hit than a Maj. Gen.
