well, what game mechanism encourage you to be part of a federation ? what raw power that can help you to dominate the galaxy do you suck from being a federation member ?

I can list you a respectable number of theses you will gain not being an actual membre. But appart from being "protected" (which is not a real advantage as at federation time you either do not need it or are too weak to take the lead), I do not see even one...

I also can't stand the new micro in 2.2...and bugs. Drives me nuts at times.

But...I have +3000hrs on this game. Its the only game I play. So I got more than my money's worth and still believe in the devs

Sorry mate, I agree, but I just the remembered my only playthrough as a xenophile, federation builder.... Never again !

Unfortunately that is the default stance that I would prefer to take ^^; But I got to the point of just not trusting the AI. Historically it squandered the federation fleet, sent it to the wrong side of the galaxy, and just didn't do anything useful. Or even actually travel through my space to defend my front line, even when it has no aggressors adjacent to it.

Will confess I bought Megacorp, then never played since. Bit demoralised by other people's feedback, would rather wait until it's 'finished'...
