By Layered Viewing of the Armed Forces, I mean the different sections of the armed forces such as the Army, Air Force, and Navy and of course the Strategic Rocket Forces should have their own representation to avoid confusion on the battlefield. Ok, basically what I am trying to say is that you know how HoI has different view options down the side of the minimap which allow you to view the Political and economic aspects etc. I think that it would be a great idea to implement a feature similar to that which would allow you to view the different sections of the armed forces individually, while still allowing you the option of viewing them all. The best way to implement this would, unlike the current HoI, be a set of options that will enable you to select the units you want to see. So for example, if you want to see infantry and naval units only, you only have to de-select the aerial units and you will no longer see them, unless you decide to re-select them. IMO this would be an excellent way to control each section individually, without mixing the units up and allowing you better management over the forces on the ground. I also think that in the new multiplayer mode where various people will be able to play a single nation; this will allow each person to concentrate on each section of the armed forces without distraction. An important factor and one which originally made me think of this is the Strategic Rocket Forces option which will also be a selectable view option. At the moment, when deploying rockets and other missiles in Hoi, it is annoying because not only are they classed as normal units, but they stick to a province and make armed forces management in that province a nightmare until you use the rockets. This option would allow you to forget about all of that and will solve a lot of problems by allowing you to call upon the rockets, only when you need them, much like in RL today. Also – it would provide a great option for mod makers who wish to make a Cold War or modern day Mod…

Have a look at the screen shots. In the top left of the screen are square 'buttons'(?) with Army, Navy, and Airforce pictures on them. We think this is what they do.

Can ANYONE from Paradox confirm this - come on - it's not a lot to give away surely? :)

Oh! I hope this is true. The SRF is also an important part, so I hope they also make an option for rockets for reasons I stated... :)

Do you suffer of multiple-personality disorder now ? :D

Anyway, it looks like all three sorts of combat (air/sea/land) will be represented in totally different sorts of ways (missions and actual airfield/harbours for air/naval units)... so at least the command-area is probably gonna be split up ... at the same time the sprites of air/land/naval seem to be represented on the same screen/layer ...

By Layered Viewing of the Armed Forces...

Lots of ways to make this proposal even more powerful. Imagine being able to toggle any of the following options on or off:

- Show all allied units
- Show all allied units controlled by me
- Show all allied units not controlled by me
- Show all enemy units
- Show all enemy units of type [land/sea/air]
- Show all of my transports carrying units
- Show all of my empty transports
- Show all of my carriers carrying planes
- Show all of my empty planes
- Show all of my units with organization [higher/lower] than ___
- Show all of my units with manpower [higher/lower] than ___
- Show all of my units with the following type of brigade attached: ___

By appropriately toggling views, a player can get a map that shows, for example, only the planes owned or controlled by that player, and only enemy sea units. This makes it easier for the player to order air attacks on enemy ships. The player can then pause, re-toggle views, and see which of his land units have high organization and manpower (and should therefore be ordered forward), and which have low organization or manpower (and should be kept back and allowed to recover).
