Launching the game failed

Hi, I bought CK3 Royal Edition (Steam key from Green Man Gaming) today and got the red triangle Launching the Game Failed error. I had the same error when I tried to buy the base game the first time last autumn. That time I eventually gave up trying to fix it and got a refund. This time I thought I'd try again as surely it'll be fixed by now? Apparently not.

Things I have tried:

Reinstalling

Verifying integrity of game files

Rolling back to 1.0.3

Disabling Windows Defender and ransomware protection

Adding exclusions for dowser.exe, bootstrapper-v2.exe and Paradox Launcher.exe

Deleting the launcher and allowing it to reinstall.

Can anyone help with this?

OK so I finally seem to have fixed the issue by running Repair on the Visual C++ Redistributals in Add/Remove Programs. I was then stopped from launching by Ransomware protection but shutting that off finally allowed me to launch. I'm not very happy about having Ransomware protection off permanently though, is there a list of exceptions I can add to allow me to turn it back on?

The three files you mention above, plus steam.exe and ck3.exe , really should cover it.
